How to Get an Addiction in BitLife

Before exploring your methods of becoming addicted to something, make sure you have a character who is at least 18 years old. By this age, you’ll unlock the Casino and Nightclubs. Below are the three types of addictions you can get in BitLife:

  • Alcohol Addiction
  • Drug Addiction
  • Gambling Addiction

You’ll develop the first two using very similar methods. Your first option is to wait until someone, whether a friend or a random NPC, introduces your character to a substance. If you accept, you risk developing an addiction to it. While it isn’t guaranteed, your chances are relatively high, especially if it’s a hard drug.

Your second option is to go out to Nightclubs. Like the first method, you’re not guaranteed to develop an addiction after going to the club once or twice, but your chances increase as you visit more frequently. Similar to before, if you find a pop-up asking you to take a substance, accept it.

How to Develop a Gambling Addiction in BitLife

To get a gambling addiction instead, spend some time at the casino. More specifically, you have to gamble for a while over several years. The more you do this, the higher your chances of developing a gambling addiction.

While these are the main ways to get addictions, there are other methods you can attempt as your character ages up:

  • If you are an actor, there’s a chance you’ll have to consume alcohol or drugs while filming a scene. If you choose to do it, there’s a chance you’ll become addicted to the substance.
  • In random encounters, you may find a bag filled with drugs. Choose to consume some for a chance to become addicted to the drug. However, if you choose to use it all, there’s a high chance it’ll kill you instantly, so avoid doing this if possible.

All three addictions affect your character’s life in different ways. If you have an alcohol addiction, your health will deteriorate, and you risk getting arrested for a DUI. Drug addictions will rapidly decrease your health, while gambling addictions cause your character to visit casinos more frequently between age-ups. To get rid of them, head to Rehab or Alcohol Anonymous.
