Safety in Red Dead Redemption

The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure you’re not in a crowded area. The reason for this is because if you fire your gun with citizens around, there’s a good chance someone will try to pull a gun on you, and that will result in a dangerous shootout situation – and could be more trouble than it’s worth. It’s best to look for isolated targets in Red Dead Redemption.

Next up, make sure you’re wearing a bandana. This makes you less recognizable than simply robbing someone at gunpoint without one. If you’re having trouble tracking one down, head over to the Tailor’s store in Thieves’ Landing, or pay a visit to the general store in Escalera. No one will question the purchase.

Next up, make sure you get real close to your target. That’s because you’ll effectively fleece them for cash much quicker. Get close enough to rob them, and then hit the Y or triangle button, depending on the version you’re playing.

Be prepared, though. Not every victim is helpless, and you may face the barrel of his or her own gun. Keep an eye on their movements and make sure you fire back before they have a chance to hit you. Then you can take some extra cash off their dead body – provided others aren’t closing in with their guns drawn.

Finally, make sure you’re aware that you’ll lose honor points. If you prefer not to be noble, have at it. But if you’re going the other way, you may want to hold off on robbery.

Good luck with your newfound life of crime in Red Dead Redemption!
