Final Fantasy Resonance has 26 Visions to collect, and some of their synergies and abilities completely change the game. From spamming up to 8 actions per character in a single turn to dealing 99,999 damage per tick, the right combination of Visions can turn even the toughest boss encounters into a walk in the park.

We’ve ranked all 26 Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance based on their skills, Mastery passives, and how early you can obtain them.

Here is our ranking of all 26 Visions, from the strongest overall choices to those with more situational uses.

TierVisions
S Terra, Firion, Bartz, Sephiroth, Ayaka, Y’shtola
ASquall, Shantotto, Warrior of Light, Cloud, Tronn, Victoria, Onion Knight,
BLeah, Tidus, Noctis, Wilhelm, Cecil, Clive, Aileen, Zidane
CCamille, Lightning
DAmelia, Vaan, Charlotte

This list considers both what a Vision does while equipped and what it contributes to your character’s build through Mastery abilities. A lower-ranked Vision can still have an ability you’ll want to unlock on everyone.

For example, Tronn isn’t as powerful as some of the late-game Visions when equipped, but Half MP Cost at Mastery Rank 9 is one of the most useful passives in the game. Similarly, Firion wouldn’t necessarily be an S-tier Vision based on his own attacks alone, but Arms Akimbo is powerful enough to earn him a place alongside Terra and Bartz.

S-Tier Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance

These are the strongest Visions in the game, with powerful equipped abilities and Mastery passives that can help you break the game.

Terra

Final Fantasy Resonance Terra vision HD cutscene attack flying with purple aura
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 1
  • Best Mastery abilities: Magic Boost, LB Double Charge, Sharp Mind, Break the Limit, Ultima.

Terra is our pick for the best overall Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance. You can unlock her in Chapter 1, and her combination of Fire, Ice, and Water magic, Magic Boost, and early-access to endgame spells gives her a ton of damage while being incredibly easy to use.

The biggest reason to master Terra is Break the Limit at MR9, which raises the damage cap from 9,999 to 99,999. It’s one of the most important abilities for endgame builds, and every damage dealer benefits from it. Her final Awakening also unlocks Ultima and Ribbon, giving her even more offensive power and protection against status ailments quite early in the game.

Firion

Final Fantasy Resonance Firionvision HD cutscene attack close up
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 3
  • Best Mastery abilities: Arms Akimbo.

Firion offers Stagger Power, elemental coverage, and abilities that make him a strong Breaker for Lasswell. However, the real reason he’s in S tier is Arms Akimbo, which unlocks at Mastery Rank 9 and allows a character to perform two actions in one turn. I don’t think I need to explain why that’s broken in a turn-based game.

This ability works with almost every character and creates some ridiculous combinations. Lid can activate Overclock and immediately attack with Mechabo, Nichol can set up multiple Formations, and physical attackers can combine it with Squall’s Double Action or Bartz’ Double Spellblade and Mimic to perform four attack skills during the same turn. You’ll want to master Firion on as many characters as possible.

Bartz

Final Fantasy Resonance Bartz HD resonance attack cutscene with Chocobo
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 5
  • Best Mastery abilities: Dual Spellblade, Mimic.

Bartz is arguably the strongest Vision for physical damage and Stagger builds. His Spellblade abilities cover Earth, Lightning, and Wind, while Dual Spellblade at MR7 allows Spellblade skills to activate twice.

Combine Dual Spellblade with Firion’s Arms Akimbo and Squall’s Double Action, and you can perform several elemental attacks during a single turn. Nichol’s Mirroring Prism can push these combinations even further. Bartz also learns Mimic at MR9, allowing him to repeat another party member’s action, including powerful abilities from other Visions.

Sephiroth

Final Fantasy Resonance Sephiroth vision HD cutscene standing in flames charging attack
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 5 onward, optional boss encounter.
  • Best Mastery abilities: Ultimate Aggression, Critical-hit Bonuses, Legendary Soldier, Dark Eater.

Sephiroth is one of the strongest offensive Visions, with access to Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Dark abilities alongside powerful passive bonuses. Ultimate Aggression increases the damage of standard attacks and battle skills by 50%, while his other Mastery abilities increase critical-hit rates and allow Limit Bursts and Resonances to land guaranteed critical hits.

At higher Awakening levels, Legendary Soldier lets the character use their highest offensive stat when attacking and their highest defensive stat when defending. This makes Sephiroth useful for both physical and magical builds. The catch is that you’ll have to defeat Sephiroth himself to unlock the Vision, and the encounter is extremely difficult when you first gain access to it.

Ayaka

Final Fantasy Resonance Ayaka casting healing resonance ability
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Medic
  • Available: Chapter 7
  • Best abilities: Arise, Reraise, Divine Tidings, Party Healing, Party Buffs

Ayaka is easily the best healing Vision in the game, with strong party-wide heals, full-HP resurrection, status recovery, and Reraise. She can also buff the party while healing, making her a much better option than simply spending every turn restoring HP.

Her biggest drawback is availability. You won’t unlock Ayaka until Chapter 7, meaning Leah will handle most of your healing needs before then. Once obtained, however, Ayaka becomes the better choice for Fina or Nichol, especially during the longer boss fights where maintaining buffs, reviving the party, and managing status effects is essential.

Y’shtola

Final Fantasy Resonance yshtola resonance ability cutscene
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 4
  • Best abilities: Skill Flow, Magic Barrage, Healing and Elemental Magic

Y’shtola is one of the most versatile Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance. She combines elemental magic with strong Stagger damage and healing, allowing her to cover several party roles without sacrificing much offensive power. Her value isn’t immediately visible, until you invest in her a bit.

Her Skill Flow mechanic increases the strength of her magic as you use different abilities, while Magic Barrage at MR9 casts four spells at reduced individual power. This makes her excellent for exploiting elemental weaknesses and quickly filling Stagger Gauges. Unlike some of the other S-tier choices, Y’shtola also becomes available relatively early, giving you plenty of time to invest in her Mastery.

A-Tier Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance

A-tier Visions have strong combat abilities or Mastery passives. Several are just as important to level as S-tier Visions, even if they aren’t quite as powerful when equipped.

Squall

Final Fantasy Resonance Squall vision HD cutscene attack
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 3
  • Best Mastery abilities: Improvement, Trigger, Double Action.

Squall is another one of the best Visions for physical attackers, and his Mastery abilities make him useful throughout the entire game. Improvement, available at MR1, gradually increases damage and Stagger Power as you use attacks and battle skills, eventually reaching a 50% bonus. Trigger provides another offensive boost.

His biggest selling point is Double Action at MR9, which allows two consecutive attack skills in one turn. Combine it with Firion’s Arms Akimbo, and you can use four attacks in a single turn. Squall is an excellent pairing for Lasswell and Rain, especially during long boss encounters where Improvement has time to reach its maximum bonus.

Shantotto

Final Fantasy Resonance Shantotto vision HD cutscene attack throwing the moon
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 4
  • Best Mastery abilities: Dual Cast, Area Effect Adept.

Shantotto is one of the best offensive magic Visions, with access to several elements and abilities that can deal heavy damage to entire groups. Area Effect Adept is a major part of her abilities, allowing multi-target magic to deal its full damage without the usual penalty.

Her strongest transferable ability is Dual Cast at MR9, which lets characters cast two eligible black or white magic spells during one action. Combined with Arms Akimbo, Sakura or Archwitch Fina can cast up to four spells in one turn. Shantotto narrowly misses S tier because she’s more specialized than Terra, but for a dedicated magic build, she’s easily among the best choices.

Warrior of Light

Final Fantasy Resonance Warrior of Light vision HD cutscene attack summoning light swords
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Sentinel
  • Available: Chapter 1
  • Best Mastery abilities: Multi-Cover, Physical Counter, Grit.

Warrior of Light is the best defensive Vision you can obtain during the early chapters, especially when equipped on Rain. Multi-Cover allows him to protect the rest of the party, while Physical Counter makes enemies regret attacking him in the first place. His Vanguard Glaive is also an underrated skill that can help you farm Cactuars early.

Grit at MR9 is the ability you’ll want on other characters as well. It allows the character to survive a fatal attack with 1 HP once per battle, making it extremely useful against superbosses and other enemies capable of wiping out your party with a single attack. Warrior of Light might not have the damage of the S-tier choices, but his defensive utility remains relevant until the end.

Cloud

Final Fantasy Resonance Cloud vision HD cutscene attack
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 1
  • Best Mastery abilities: Restore MP on Critical Hit, Critical Stagger, Critical Boost.

Cloud is an excellent Vision for physical attackers, with several bonuses that improve critical-hit damage and Stagger Power. He’s also available in Chapter 1, making him one of the strongest early offensive choices for Rain or Lasswell running a crit damage build.

His Mastery abilities reward critical hits by restoring MP, increasing Stagger damage, and improving physical damage. These also make Cloud a strong pairing for Lid, whose Mechabo abilities benefit from offensive bonuses, and Jake, who can guarantee critical hits with certain attacks. Although Bartz eventually offers more powerful combinations, Cloud remains a reliable option throughout the game. You can also pair them up for some ridiculous critical spellblade damage combos.

Tronn

  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 1
  • Best Mastery abilities: Restore MP on Stagger, Fill LB on Stagger, Half MP Cost.

Tronn is probably the Vision whose placement depends most on whether you’re judging equipped combat performance or transferable abilities. His Fire, Ice, and Lightning magic makes him useful early on, but stronger Visions eventually offer better offensive options.

However, Half MP Cost at MR9 is one of the best Mastery passives in the entire game. It cuts the MP cost of every action in half, including expensive attacks, healing spells, and support abilities. When you’re using Arms Akimbo, Double Action, or Dual Cast to perform several actions in one turn, this becomes essential for maintaining enough MP to keep fighting. We’d prioritize mastering Tronn even if you don’t intend to equip him permanently.

Victoria

Final Fantasy Resonance Victoria casting magic in resonance skill

  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 5, side quest.
  • Best Mastery abilities: Increased MRP gain, Increased Item Drop Rate.

Victoria is not in the A-tier because of her combat strength. She’s a strong Dark and Ice magic user, but her Mastery abilities make her one of the most useful Visions for anyone planning to complete the game’s optional content.

At MR7, Victoria unlocks an ability that increases MRP earned by 50%, making it much easier to master other Visions. At MR9, she also provides an increased item drop rate. Since several of the game’s best builds require mastering multiple Visions on each character, Victoria can save you a tremendous amount of grinding giving her unmatched utility for endgame players.

Onion Knight

Final Fantasy Resonance Onion Knight HD cutscene vision resonance attack

  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 2
  • Best Mastery abilities: LB Triple Charge, Observe and Recover HP.

Onion Knight is another Vision that’s more useful than its position might suggest. He offers Fire, Wind, and Earth magic, alongside a mixture of physical and magical abilities that can work with several party members.

His biggest contribution is LB Triple Charge at MR9, which triples Limit Break gauge generation. This is extremely powerful on Nichol, whose Mirroring Prism Limit Break can allow the entire party to repeat their actions. It also works well on characters with strong offensive Limit Bursts. We wouldn’t necessarily equip Onion Knight over Terra or Bartz, but mastering him is one of the best investments you can make if you plan on spamming Limit Breaks.

B-Tier Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance

B-tier Visions have useful abilities and can perform well, but they’re generally more specialized or become less valuable as stronger options unlock.

Leah

Final Fantasy Resonance Leah charging healng resonance skill

  • Role: Medic
  • Available: Chapter 1
  • Best Mastery abilities: Pass the Torch, Improved Item Effectiveness.

Leah is your first healing Vision and remains useful for most of the story. She provides healing magic, Regen, and additional support abilities, making her a natural pairing for Fina early on. Her Resonance can also restore HP for your party at the end of most fights.

Pass the Torch at MR5 is the main reason to invest in Leah. It lets a character give their action to another party member, which is useful when your healer has nothing important to do or you need a damage dealer to attack again. Ayaka eventually replaces Leah as the best dedicated healer, but Pass the Torch remains useful long afterward.

Tidus

Final Fantasy Resonance Tidus HD cutscene vision resonance attack kicking water ball
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 3
  • Best Mastery abilities: First Strike, Reckless Abandonment, Tiptop Shape.

Tidus provides Water and Wind attacks, healing, and several useful support abilities. First Strike at MR3 lets a character act before enemies at the start of combat, making it an excellent passive for Nichol and other characters who need to apply buffs immediately.

Reckless Abandonment is another valuable ability, doubling the Stagger Power of a selected physical attack at an increased MP cost. It works especially well with Lid’s Mecha Behemoth, allowing her to stagger entire groups of enemies. Tiptop Shape can also increase physical damage based on the buffs a character has received, which makes Tidus useful alongside Nichol’s Formations.

Noctis

Final Fantasy Resonance Noctis HD cutscene vision resonance attack
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 2
  • Best Mastery abilities: Barrage, Evasion Bonuses, Physical Damage Bonuses

Noctis is built around Warp Strike and abilities that can trigger additional attacks during the Bonus Phase. With Awakening upgrades, he becomes much more effective at creating these opportunities, making him a solid offensive Vision if you’re willing to invest Magicite.

Barrage at MR9 is also very useful because it performs four guaranteed-hit attacks against random enemies. This makes it one of the best abilities for dealing with Cactuars, which have high evasion and are useful for MRP farming. Noctis isn’t quite as flexible as the stronger physical Visions, but you get him early on and he has enough utility to justify mastering him.

Wilhelm

Final Fantasy Resonance Wilhelm vision preparing shield resonance skill
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Sentinel
  • Available: Chapter 5, side quest.
  • Best abilities: Supreme Defense, Party Barrier, Defensive Counters.

Wilhelm is one of the best defensive Visions, offering several ways to reduce incoming damage and protect the party. His Resonance grants a barrier that blocks 70% of the next incoming hit, while Supreme Defense can reduce damage taken by 80% for a turn.

He’s an excellent pairing for Rain during difficult boss fights, especially when you need more protection than Warrior of Light provides. However, Wilhelm isn’t as universally useful as some of the higher-ranked Visions because his abilities mainly focus on surviving attacks rather than improving damage or granting extra actions. If you want to build a tanky, counter-attack focused rain you can pair WoL with Wilhelm.

Cecil

Final Fantasy Resonance Cecil HD cutscene vision resonance attack
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Sentinel
  • Available: Chapter 4
  • Best abilities: Party Barrier, Healing, Dark Immunity

Cecil is a defensive Vision with access to Light and Dark attacks, healing spells, and a Resonance that reduces the damage of the next attack received by the party. His mix of offensive and defensive abilities makes him a decent option if you don’t want to build Rain exclusively around tanking.

His Mastery abilities also provide resistance to Dark attacks, which can be useful against specific bosses. Cecil is a perfectly viable defensive option, but Warrior of Light and Wilhelm generally offer more focused protection. He’s still worth leveling if you’re preparing for enemies that rely heavily on Dark damage.

Clive

Final Fantasy Resonance Clive HD cutscene vision resonance attack
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 5
  • Best abilities: Fire and Wind attacks, Stagger bonuses, Self-buffs.

Clive offers strong physical damage and Stagger Power, with Fire and Wind coverage that works well against several enemies. His Awakening upgrades also unlock additional abilities, including a powerful Limit Break that increases his stats.

The main problem is timing. By the time you can reach Clive’s Sanctum with the Enterprise, you’ve already gained access to Firion, Squall, and several other strong Visions. Bartz also becomes available around the same stage of the game and offers considerably stronger transferable combinations. Clive is a good Vision, but he doesn’t bring enough unique utility to justify prioritizing him over the alternatives.

Aileen

Final Fantasy Resonance Aileen charging up resonance attack
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 5, side quest.
  • Best Mastery abilities: LB Charge Opener, Observe and Charge LB.

Aileen specializes in Earth and Ice attacks and provides additional Stagger Power. She’s a reasonable choice for physical Breakers, and her Awakening upgrades can lower enemy defenses when she staggers them.

Her biggest strengths are the Limit Break-related Mastery abilities. LB Charge Opener provides an immediate boost to the Limit Break gauge at the start of combat, while Observe and Charge LB builds gauge through non-damaging actions. Both are excellent additions to Nichol’s Mirroring Prism builds, especially when combined with Onion Knight’s LB Triple Charge. Aileen is worth mastering for these abilities even if you don’t use her as your main combat Vision.

C-Tier Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance

C-tier Visions aren’t necessarily bad, but their abilities are either limited to specific situations or outclassed by stronger alternatives. Several are still worth unlocking for farming or specialized builds.

Zidane

Final Fantasy Resonance Zidane Vision with steal ability
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Saboteur
  • Available: Chapter 2
  • Best abilities: Steal, Mug, Insult to Injury, Rare Hunter.

It hurts me to put Zidane in C-tier because he has the unique Mug ability that lets you steal items from enemies. His damage can also increase based on the number of successful steals, but he generally falls behind dedicated offensive Visions during normal combat. His skills are also a bit too expensive for too little damage.

His main selling point is Rare Hunter, unlocked through Awakening, which guarantees the rare item when successfully stealing. Insult to Injury is another useful Mastery ability because it increases Stagger Power against enemies affected by debuffs or status ailments. Zidane isn’t a priority for damage, but completionists will definitely want him.

Camille

Final Fantasy Resonance Vision Resonance attack camille
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Commando
  • Available: Chapter 5, side quest.
  • Best abilities: Haste bonuses, Physical evasion

Camille focuses on Speed and physical attacks, with abilities that become stronger when the party is affected by Haste. Her Awakening upgrades allow her to maintain Haste more consistently, and her Mastery abilities include a chance to avoid physical damage after attacking.

She can work well in a party built around acting before enemies, especially alongside Tidus’s First Strike. However, Camille requires a niche and dedicated setup to compete with the stronger physical Visions, and most players will already have several better alternatives by the time she’s unlocked.

Lightning

Final Fantasy Resonance Vision Resonance HD Cutscene Lightning
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 5
  • Best abilities: Lightning and Ice attacks, Zantetsuken, Lightning Absorption.

Lightning specializes in physical attacks, with Ice and Lightning coverage and abilities that become stronger through consecutive attacks. Her Zantetsuken Resonance also has a 40% chance to instantly defeat enemies, which can be useful against regular encounters.

She becomes considerably stronger with Awakening upgrades, including bonuses to her Lightning abilities and Resonance. However, instant-death attacks aren’t reliable against many bosses, and her offensive abilities face stiff competition from Firion and Bartz. Lightning is still useful for her elemental absorption Mastery when preparing for specific encounters.

D-Tier Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance

Amelia

  • Role: Saboteur
  • Available: Chapter 6
  • Best abilities: Aim, Dual Guns, Deprotect, Deshell.

Amelia is an interesting Vision because she focuses on weakening enemies rather than dealing damage directly. Her abilities include Deprotect, Deshell, Slow, and other debuffs that make enemies easier to damage or control.

Her Dual Guns passive gives her skills a chance to activate twice, while Aim at MR3 is useful for builds that rely on accurate physical attacks. Amelia can also work well with characters like Jake, but her late availability and reliance on debuffs make her less consistent than the higher-ranked Visions.

Vaan

Final Fantasy Resonance Vision Resonance HD Cutscene Vaan
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Breaker
  • Available: Chapter 5
  • Best abilities: Gil farming, Gil Double.

Vaan is one of the best utility Visions, but most of his advantages are tied to earning Gil rather than defeating difficult enemies. His Resonance can steal from multiple enemies, and his MR9 ability doubles the Gil earned from battles.

That’s extremely useful if you’re saving up for expensive equipment, merchant items, or Ancient Arms. However, when it comes to damaging bosses or building Stagger, Vaan doesn’t offer as much as the stronger Breakers. We’d recommend leveling him for Gil farming rather than using him as a permanent part of your main party.

Charlotte

Final Fantasy Resonance Vision Resonance ability Charlotte
Screenshot by Prima Games
  • Role: Sentinel
  • Available: Chapter 7, side quest.
  • Best abilities: Royal Guard, Ice absorption, defensive barriers.

Charlotte is another defensive Vision, with Water and Ice abilities and Royal Guard, which allows her to protect a chosen ally for two turns. Her Mastery abilities also provide Ice absorption, making her useful against enemies that rely heavily on that element.

The main issue is that Charlotte arrives very late. By Chapter 7, you’ll already have Warrior of Light, Cecil, and Wilhelm available, all of whom provide strong defensive options. Charlotte still has some specialized uses, but there isn’t much reason to prioritize her unless you’re facing an enemy whose attacks she can counter effectively.
