Lazarov also summons several experiments during the final confrontation, each with different elemental weaknesses. Bring a party with decent elemental coverage or you can choose to ignore the enemies and focus on bursting down Lazarov first.

Once the chapter ends, you’ll have access to the Enterprise, which opens up much more of the world map for exploration.

All 16 Tablet Shard Locations in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 4

There are 16 Tablet Shards available in Chapter 4, bringing your total to 58 if you’ve collected all 42 from the first three chapters. Most are found around Zoldaad and its story dungeons, but the final shard is back in Grandshelt, where the Colosseum becomes accessible.

Here’s where to find all 16 Tablet Shards.

LocationWhere to Find the Tablet Shard
Mozul StationHead southwest from the railway platform and look near the edge of the station.
Capital StationLook beside the staircase near the eastern entrance, next to a trash bin.
Zoldaad Castle PlazaHead to the eastern side of the plaza, near the tram stop.

Rebel HideoutHead northeast and look behind the metal pillar near the staircase.
Weapons FactoryIn the lava chamber, activate the western bridge switch. Cross the newly accessible bridge and turn left.
Weapons FactoryNear the save point, climb the long central ladder and manipulate the switches to reach the western platform.

Grandshelt ColosseumReturn to Grandshelt after the Colosseum opens. The shard is behind the boxes at the far western side of the entrance approach.

The Colosseum shard is the easiest one to overlook because it isn’t located in Zoldaad. If you finish the chapter with 57 Tablet Shards instead of 58, that’s a good place to check.

Chapter 4 Tablet Shard Rewards

Return to the Enigmatic Princess at Oblivion Palace to claim additional rewards for your collected Tablet Shards. With all 58 shards collected after Chapter 4, you can unlock four new rewards in the 2-Star Chamber.

Total Tablet Shards RequiredReward

You’ll need another two Tablet Shards to reach the 60-shard reward tier, which becomes available in Chapter 5.

The Weapons Factory switch puzzle leads to Hoodwink Garb, Magicite, and a Tablet Shard.

In Zoldaad Castle, the Hairpin of Grace is also easy to miss because it doesn’t come from a conventional treasure chest. You’ll need to examine the painting after reading the clue from the bookshelf upstairs.

Shantotto is one of the best Visions for characters like Sakura and Archwitch Fina thanks to her powerful spells and Dual Cast Mastery ability.

Cecil offers defensive abilities and Dark resistance, while Y’shtola is another option for characters focused on magic.

All Magicite Shard Locations in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 4

The two Cave Masters are more challenging but also reward full Magicite, so you can return to them after strengthening your party.

All Optional Bosses and Special Encounters in Chapter 4

Chapter 4 introduces two Cave Masters in Zoldaad, the Titan Esper encounter, the Ifrit Esper encounter, and two Crimson Pots.

Crimson Pot — Underground Tunnel

  • Location: Underground Tunnel, Zoldaad.
  • Level: 30
  • Required item: Turbo Ether.
  • Rewards: 400 EXP, 500 Gil, 350 MRP on Normal.

You’ll encounter a Crimson Pot while exploring the Underground Tunnel beneath Zoldaad. Like the earlier Pot enemies, it has 99,999 HP and nullifies physical and magical attacks. Use a Turbo Ether on it during combat to finish the encounter and receive your rewards. On Expert difficulty, the base MRP reward increases to 525.

Crimson Pot — Weapons Factory

  • Location: Weapons Factory, Zoldaad.
  • Level: 30
  • Required item: Turbo Ether.
  • Rewards: 400 EXP, 500 Gil, 350 MRP on Normal.

The second Crimson Pot appears in the Weapons Factory while you’re navigating its switch-controlled bridges. Give it a Turbo Ether during battle to end the encounter and collect your rewards. Switching to Expert difficulty increases the base MRP reward to 525.

Gogmagog

  • Location: Gogmagog Cave, Zoldaad Empire Territory.
  • Level: 34
  • HP: 78,000 on Normal.
  • Weaknesses: Wind, Light.
  • Rewards: Magicite, Mist Turbo Ether, 3,600 EXP, 5,000 Gil.

Gogmagog is one of the two Cave Masters you can fight while exploring Zoldaad.

It has powerful physical attacks and can strengthen itself with buffs, so bring a character that can use Dispel. Fina’s Light abilities and Firion’s Light-element Resonance attack are useful here. You can also rely on Wind attacks to exploit its weakness.

Pyroviper

  • Location: Pyroviper Cave, Zoldaad Empire Territory.
  • Level: 37
  • HP: 89,700 on Normal.
  • Weakness: Water.
  • Immunity: Fire.
  • Rewards: Magicite, Mist Turbo Ether, 4,050 EXP, 6,000 Gil.

Pyroviper is the second Cave Master available in Zoldaad.

It specializes in Fire attacks and can act twice per turn, making it much more dangerous than regular enemies. Avoid Fire abilities and bring equipment that reduces incoming Fire damage.

Tidus and Terra are useful choices thanks to their access to Water attacks. You can leave the fight until after completing the main chapter if your party isn’t strong enough.

Titan

  • Location: Lanzelt, Kingdom of Grandshelt, optional Esper encounter.
  • Level: 30
  • HP: 65,000 on Normal.
  • Weakness: Wind.
  • Immunity: Earth.
  • Rewards: Titan Esper, Magicite, 7,200 EXP, 6,000 Gil.

Titan becomes available once you can access his optional Esper encounter with the Gaia Hammer. Defeating him unlocks Titan as an Esper and rewards you with Magicite.

Titan uses mostly physical attacks and can enter defensive stances that increase his physical and magical defenses. Bring physical damage reduction buffs and focus on staggering him to create openings.

Wind attacks are your best option here. You can use Bartz later in the game for additional Wind coverage, but Chapter 4 already provides enough abilities to exploit Titan’s weakness.

Ifrit

  • Location: Volcano, southern Zoldaad Empire Territory.
  • Level: 33
  • HP: 96,000 on Normal.
  • Weakness: Water.
  • Immunity: Fire.
  • Rewards: Ifrit Esper, Magicite, 10,800 EXP, 8,000 Gil.

Once you’ve unlocked the Enterprise, fly to the smoking volcano west of Y’shtola’s Sanctum in southern Zoldaad. Approach the crater and choose to enter it to start the Ifrit encounter.

Ifrit is immune to Fire and weak to Water, so bring Nichol and equip Water-based abilities. He can also enter a Fury state after taking repeated attacks, increasing his offensive power while reducing his defenses. Water attacks can calm him down.

Phantom Train True Form

  • Location: Phantom Train, northwest of Pyroviper Cave in Zoldaad.
  • Level: 32
  • Weaknesses: Ice, Light.
  • Rewards: Camille Vision and Magicite upon completing The Call from Beyond.

Phantom Train True Form is the optional boss encountered during The Call from Beyond side quest, which becomes available after Chapter 4.

Speak to the Bewildered Man in Zoldaad’s Residential District, travel to the abandoned station northwest of Pyroviper Cave, and board the mysterious train. After speaking with the passengers and investigating their stories, you’ll eventually confront the Phantom Train’s true form.

The boss is weak to Ice and Light, so bring Tronn or Y’shtola for Ice damage, while Fina can exploit its Light weakness. Defeating it completes the quest and rewards you with Camille’s Vision and Magicite.

Grandshelt Colosseum — Fledgling League Rewards

The Colosseum in Grandshelt becomes accessible during Chapter 4, and you can start taking part in the Fledgling League. There are five battles, each with a first-time completion reward.

BattleFirst-Time Reward
Fledgling Battle 1Magicite Shard
Fledgling Battle 2Adamantite
Fledgling Battle 3Ancient Greatsword
Fledgling Battle 4Magicite Shard
Fledgling Battle 5Gaia Hammer

Adamantite is used for crafting equipment later in the game, while the Gaia Hammer unlocks the Titan Esper boss fight in the Grandshelt desert. Clearing all five battles also rewards you with the Fledgling’s Proof of Victory, which expands the Colosseum shop’s inventory.

Best EXP, Gil, and MRP Farming Spots in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 4

Zoldaad has stronger enemies than Olderion, and you’ll have more ways to improve your party once the Colosseum becomes available.

Chapter 4 EXP and MRP Farming

For regular EXP and MRP, stick to overworld encounters your party can defeat quickly rather than grinding difficult Cave Master battles. The Sandworms and Cactuars found near the Pyroviper cave area ideal for farming EXP and MRP respectively. Sandworms netting up to 2500 EXP per encounter and Cactuars giving roughly 300 MRP on Normal.

We recommend unlocking the Foe Attractor from the Grandshelt Colosseum to make farming quicker.

If you’ve unlocked Zidane’s Steal ability, there are also some valuable rare items to look out for.

All Missable Items and Secrets in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 4

There are several hidden items, dialogue choices, and optional activities in Chapter 4 that are easy to miss while following the main story.

Chapter 4 Stat Choices

There are two story decisions in Chapter 4 that permanently increase a character’s stats. The first happens during a conversation with Lasswell after defeating Ignis, while the second occurs after the final story encounter involving Jake.

CharacterAvailable BonusesRecommended
LasswellMP +10, Strength +3, Speed +3Strength +3
JakeHP +30, Strength +3, Stamina +3Strength +3

Lasswell and Jake both benefit from increased Strength because of their physical attacks. Note that in the example above, the stats correspond to the choice number. For example, Lasswell’s first choice gives you MP +10.

These bonuses cannot be changed through a dialogue replay option, so reload an earlier save if you want to choose a different reward.

Should You Fight or Persuade the Captain in Zoldaad Castle?

While searching for the Throne Room Key, you’ll encounter a captain in an upper-right room of Zoldaad Castle. You can either talk him down or fight him.

ChoiceConsequence
Persuade the captainObtain the Throne Room Key without fighting.
Fight the captainDefeat him and obtain the same key.

Both options lead to the same outcome, so we recommend persuading him to avoid the additional battle. Don’t forget to collect the Kikokusenga in the same room before continuing.

Hidden Hairpin of Grace in Zoldaad Castle

There’s a secret accessory hidden behind a painting inside Zoldaad Castle. On the upper floor, enter the first room on the right and examine the bookshelf to find a clue. Return to the first floor and inspect the painting to the left of the main staircase and you’ll receive the Hairpin of Grace.

This is easy to miss because the item isn’t stored in a treasure chest.

Grandshelt Colosseum Rewards

After clearing the league, check the shop for Foe Attractor, which increases random encounter frequency. This is useful for farming regular enemies and earning EXP, Gil, and MRP. Each battle also offers a fixed first-time reward. There are also lots of exclusive items unlocked in the shop, so be sure to go back and grab everything.

Finish the Jump Rope Challenges in Olderion

If you completed the first three jump rope challenges during Chapter 3, you can return to Olderion once the next set becomes available.

Successful JumpsReward
30Mist X-Potion
40Swift Badge
60Magicite

The Magicite reward requires 60 successful jumps, and you only need to complete the challenge once to claim it. There are no additional item rewards beyond 60 jumps, but you can keep improving your score.

Return to Grandshelt Castle

Grandshelt Castle becomes accessible again during Chapter 4. If you missed the Black Garb during the burning castle sequence in Chapter 1, you can collect it from a chest in the northwestern room.

You can also find a Mist Turbo Ether, Hoodwink Garb, and Mist Hi-Potion inside the jail area on the lower western side.

Once you unlock the Enterprise, you can start revisiting older regions and reaching locations that weren’t previously accessible. It opens the game up a lot more and makes the progress less linear.

Before heading into Chapter 5, make sure you’ve obtained all 16 Chapter 4 Tablet Shards, unlocked Shantotto, Cecil, and Y’shtola, completed Mechabo Evolved, and visited the Grandshelt Colosseum.
