Important Treasure Chests in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 1

While it’s worth checking every corner for consumables, there are a few pieces of equipment that stand out.

  • Nodachi: Found inside the Earth Shrine along a side passage. It’s an early weapon upgrade for Lasswell and is worth grabbing before the first boss.
  • Black Garb: Found during the burning Grandshelt Castle sequence, in a room to the left of the throne room approach. This is particularly important because you cannot return for it after leaving the castle.
  • Hoodwink Garb: Another piece of equipment found in Grandshelt Castle during the rescue sequence.
  • Prickly Straitjacket: Found in the Kolobos Ruins in a chest accessed during your exploration of the second area.
  • Knife of Poison: You can pick up two of these from a chest in the Kolobos Ruins, near a fallen pillar and staircase.

You should also explore the overworld instead of sticking exclusively to the roads. There are several loose items lying around, including the Floral Arc for Fina in the Lanzelt desert and Idaten’s Shoes near Grandshelt.

All Chapter 1 Side Quests and Rewards

There are four side quests available in Chapter 1, and they’re worth completing before moving on. In addition to Gil and equipment, some reward Magicite Shards that are required to upgrade Visions.

Dream of an Idealist

  • Starting location: Grandshelt Royal Capital, soldier near the courtyard fountain.
  • Rewards: Flamberge, 500 Gil.
  • Unlocks after battle at the Palace.

You’ll need to visit Scott in the Village of Kol, search the Earth Shrine, and defeat a Poison Flora in the eastern desert to collect the Dew of Reprieve.

The Flamberge is a good weapon for Rain during the early portion of Chapter 1.

Secrets Unearthed

  • Starting location: Town of Felicitas, Chloe near the item shop.
  • Rewards: Magicite Shard, Monk’s Prayer Beads.
  • Unlocks once you reach Felicitas.

Chloe needs help investigating the unusual crystals found around Kolobos. You’ll need to collect three core samples scattered around the region and return them to her in Felicitas.

Since you’ll be heading toward the Kolobos Ruins for the main story anyway, it’s worth accepting this quest before leaving town.

The Weight of Mercy

  • Starting location: Grandport Harbor, Lasswell’s personal quest.
  • Rewards: Iwakirimaru, 500 Gil.
  • Unlocks once you reach Grandport.

The quest takes you between Grandport, Felicitas, and the Kolobos Ruins, where you’ll uncover the truth behind the thief’s identity.

The Iwakirimaru is a good weapon upgrade for Lasswell in Chapter 1 so make sure to get it.

Rear Support, Ahoy!

  • Starting location: Grandport Harbor, speak to Zile.
  • Rewards: Magicite Shard, 500 Gil.
  • Unlocks after defeating Siren.

Zile needs help transporting supplies following the attack on Grandshelt. Speak to the chocobo coachman in Grandport and defeat four Human Traps in the surrounding region to obtain the required extracts.

Human Traps should be easy to deal with at this point, but watch out for the occasional Chimera enemy. We recommend equipping Water magic for the enemies in this region.

All Optional Bosses and Special Encounters in Chapter 1

Aside from the mandatory story bosses, there are three notable optional encounters you can discover in Chapter 1.

Antlion

  • Location: Lanzelt Desert, near the sinkhole on the route toward Felicitas.
  • Level: 20
  • HP: 20,000
  • Rewards: 300 EXP, 2,400 gil

The Antlion is an optional enemy that ambushes you when you attempt to cross the sinkhole on foot. You’re supposed to use your chocobo to cross this area safely, but you can deliberately trigger the encounter if you’re feeling adventurous.

At level 20, the Antlion is much stronger than most enemies in Chapter 1 so it’s best to avoid this fight entirely until you can return and match its level.

Marauder

  • Location: Marauder Cave, northeast of Grandport Harbor.
  • Level: 15
  • HP: 30,000
  • Weakness: Wind
  • Rewards: 500 EXP, 700 Gil, Magicite

Marauder is one of the toughest optional enemies you can challenge during Chapter 1. You’ll find this powerful enemy inside Marauder Cave in the Lanzelt region. You’ll also need access to Wind magic to damage it effectively, so having Siren and lots of Ether potions is a must.

Gilgamesh

  • Location: Siren’s Tower.

Gilgamesh makes an appearance in Siren’s Tower, where he steals the Genji Gloves after you interact with a treasure chest near the middle of the tower. You’re not really expected to beat him.

Best EXP and MRP Farming Spot in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 1

The Lanzelt Desert is the best place to farm EXP and MRP in Chapter 1 of Final Fantasy Resonance. EXP increases your characters’ levels, while MRP increases your Visions’ Mastery Ranks.

For EXP farming, the best areas are a split between Lanzelt Desert and the Siren’s Tower. If you have strong lightning attacks go to Siren’s Tower, and if you have access to strong water attacks head towards the desert. You can spam encounters in these two locations and quickly rack up a respectable amount of EXP in Chapter 1. Highly recommended if you’re struggling with the Siren or Marauder boss battles.

For MRP farming, you want to farm Cactuars found to the right side of the sealed Esper tomb in Lanzelt Desert. Cactuars are rarer encounters, but they can award up to 78 MRP per battle under favorable conditions, making them the most efficient enemy for Vision progression in the early-game.

To get the most out of this farming spot:

  • Switch to Expert difficulty, which increases MRP rewards.
  • Search the desert around the oasis for Cactuar encounters.
  • Use Water spells and multi-hit abilities to deal with their high evasion.
  • Try to finish battles during Sweeping Stagger for additional MRP.
  • Bring Tents to restore HP and MP without repeatedly returning to town.

You can also encounter Chimeras in this area which are much more dangerous so bring Smoke Bombs with you to escape those fights.

You don’t need to clear every optional area before finishing Chapter 1, but collecting all the Tablet Shards, unlocking all available Visions, and completing the four side quests will leave you in a much better position for the rest of Final Fantasy Resonance.
