Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 3 Checklist
Every hidden item, boss, and the best farming spots in Final Fantasy Resonance chapter 3.

There’s plenty of optional content, including 15 Tablet Shards, two side quests, three new Visions, and a couple of challenging Cave Masters. There’s also an optional Esper to unlock, a jump rope minigame with several rewards, and some great equipment hidden throughout the chapter.
This Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 3 checklist covers all the quests, collectibles, treasure chests, Magicite Shards, optional encounters, and secrets worth checking before leaving Olderion for Chapter 4.
All Main Story Objectives in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 3
Chapter 3 has 21 main story objectives, starting with your arrival in Olderion and ending when you board the ship bound for Zoldaad. Here’s a condensed walkthrough of the main locations and objectives in the order you’ll encounter them.

| Water Dragon | 21 | Lightning |
| Leviathan | 23 | Lightning |
| Alluvion | 26 | Lightning |
Water Dragon and Leviathan resist Water attacks, while Alluvion is immune to Water. Bring Lightning-based abilities for the latter half of the chapter, especially against Leviathan and Alluvion.
The Water Shrine has a recommended level of 26, so use the optional encounters around Olderion to strengthen your party before heading inside.

| Cave of Waters | Return to the cave after the story lowers the water level. Follow the newly accessible route and climb the ladders to find the shard. |
| Waterfall Way | In the second area, follow the upper path to the northeast. The shard is beside the ladder near the end of the route. |
| Waterfall Way | In the large waterfall chamber, look for the shard on one of the stone platforms beneath the falling water. |

You’ll also find consumables throughout these locations, including elemental scrolls, Shurikens, and healing items. The Guardian Sword is easy to miss because its chest is hidden behind a waterfall near the top left of the map.

All Chapter 3 Side Quests and Rewards
There are two new side quests in Chapter 3, and both reward a Magicite Shard and 1,500 Gil. You can also continue Mechabo Evolved from Chapter 2 while exploring Olderion.
Medicinal Mission
- Starting location: Olderion, the Aquapolis, near the inn.
- Rewards: Magicite Shard, 1,500 Gil.
A young girl named Sarah has fallen ill after Olderion’s water supply becomes contaminated. Speak with an apothecary and find a way to obtain medicine for her.

There are three ways to finish this quest: purchase medicine for 50,000 Gil, defeat the Blood Dragon to obtain an ingredient, or gather Rushroom and Pure Water to prepare a remedy.
All three methods complete the quest, so we recommend gathering the ingredients to save your Gil and avoid an optional boss fight.
The Tide from the Sky
- Starting location: Town of Amore, speak to the soldier.
- Rewards: Magicite Shard, 1,500 Gil.
The Mercedes Pirates have been causing trouble near Amore, and a soldier asks you to investigate their activities. Speak to the pirate at the northeastern pier, follow the trail back to Olderion to gather information, and head to Waterfall Way to confront Mercedes.

Since the quest takes you through locations you’ll already visit during the main story, accept it as soon as you reach Amore.
Mechabo Evolved — Chapter 3 Progress
If you started Mechabo Evolved during Chapter 2, you can complete another part of the quest in Olderion. Defeat three Destroyers in the western portion of the Olderion Federation and return to Verun at the Dwarven Forge. This upgrade unlocks Mecha Fat Chocobo for Lid.
The quest continues into later chapters, so it will remain in your journal after completing the current objective.
All Chapter 3 Visions and How to Unlock Them
You can obtain three new Visions in Chapter 3, bringing your total to 11 if you’ve collected every Vision available so far. All three are found inside Sanctums of Light around Olderion, and none require a boss fight.
| Vision | Role | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Firion | Breaker | From the starting area of Chapter 3, explore the forest southwest of Olderion, near Ruby Cave, to find Firion’s Sanctum. |
| Tidus | Breaker | Travel west of Olderion, crossing the bridges and passing the waterfalls. His Sanctum is near the westernmost edge of the region, beyond the Secluded Dwelling. |
| Squall | Commando | Leave Olderion toward the east, follow the lower coastal route north, and look for the Sanctum northeast of the city. |
Firion is available almost immediately after Chapter 3 begins and is one of the strongest Visions thanks to one of his

Tidus and Squall are located on opposite ends of Olderion, so you can collect both while exploring the world map.
As with other Sanctums, your dialogue choices don’t affect whether you receive the Vision.
All Magicite Shard Locations in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 3
Chapter 3 has several Magicite Shards available through treasure chests, side quests, bosses, and the jump rope minigame.
| Location | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
| Olderion, the Aquapolis | Complete the first jump rope challenge by successfully jumping 10 times. |
| Cave of Waters | Open the Magicite Shard chest reached by boat near the beginning of the dungeon. |
| Water Shrine | Find the Magicite Shard chest behind the waterfall while exploring the shrine. |
| Olderion, the Aquapolis | Complete the Medicinal Mission side quest. |
| Town of Amore | Complete The Tide from the Sky side quest. |
| Lake Dorr | Defeat Leviathan during the main story. |
| Rukh Cave | Defeat the optional Rukh Cave Master. |
You can also claim a full Magicite from Oblivion Palace by collecting 40 Tablet Shards across the first three chapters. Rukh is another source of a Magicite Shard, and you should be able to beat it by the end of the chapter.
You can get two Magicite during this chapter to upgrade your Visions to the next tier. The first you can get by defeating the Level 28 Mindflayer cave master, the second is a reward for collecting 40 Tablet Shards.
All Jump Rope Rewards in Final Fantasy Resonance
One of the first optional activities you’ll discover in Olderion is a jump rope minigame involving three children. You’ll find the Spirited Girl in the city, where two other children are turning a rope for her.
Speak to the girl to start the challenge. Your objective is to jump whenever the exclamation mark appears above your character. Missing a jump ends the attempt, but you can immediately try again.
There are six reward milestones in total.
| Successful Jumps | Reward | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Magicite Shard | Chapter 3 |
| 15 | Mist Hi-Potion | Chapter 3 |
| 20 | Mist Ether | Chapter 3 |
| 30 | Mist X-Potion | Chapter 4 |
| 40 | Swift Badge | Chapter 4 |
| 60 | Magicite | Chapter 4 |
You can only complete the first three challenges during Chapter 3. After reaching 20 jumps, the Spirited Girl will tell you to return later once she’s established a new record.

The remaining challenges become available once Chapter 4 begins, so you can return to Olderion and complete them then.
You receive each milestone reward only once. After completing the 60-jump challenge, you can continue attempting higher scores, but there are no further item rewards.
All Optional Bosses and Special Encounters in Chapter 3
Olderion has two optional Cave Masters, an Esper that doesn’t require fighting, and a special Pot encounter inside the Water Shrine.
Rukh
- Location: Rukh Cave, southeast of Olderion.
- Level: 26
- Weakness: Wind
- Rewards: Magicite Shard, X-Ether.
Rukh is the first optional Cave Master you can challenge in Olderion. Its cave is accessible early in Chapter 3, but at level 26, it’s stronger than the enemies you’ll initially encounter around the city.

Use Wind-based attacks to exploit its weakness. You can return after leveling up your party if you’re struggling with the fight.
Mindflayer
- Location: Mindflayer Cave, northern Olderion Federation.
- Level: 28
- Weakness: Earth
- Rewards: Magicite, Mist Turbo Ether.
Mindflayer is another optional Cave Master and is stronger than Rukh. It uses several status effects, including Paralysis, Poison, Silence, and Blind, so bring protection and healing items. The best strategy is to just set up Carbuncle and watch it reflect everything the boss throws at you.
Earth-based attacks are effective against it. Since Mindflayer is above the recommended level for Chapter 3’s final story boss, you can return later if your party isn’t prepared. However, it’s very much possible to beat it with Carbuncle.
Carbuncle
- Location: Ruby Cave, south of Olderion.
- Reward: Carbuncle Esper.
Unlike Siren and Ramuh, Carbuncle doesn’t require you to defeat it in battle.
Instead, enter Ruby Cave and examine the gravestone at the back. You’ll receive a clue pointing toward three Ruby Fragments scattered around the Olderion Federation.
You can find them at the following locations:
- Southeast of Rukh Cave, between a large pond and a smaller pool.

- Along the eastern coastline, southwest of Squall’s Sanctum.
- West of the waterfalls beyond Olderion, across two wooden bridges and up a grassy rise.

Once you’ve collected all three fragments, return to Ruby Cave and interact with the gravestone again to obtain Carbuncle. If you’ve already recruited Siren and Ramuh, Carbuncle will be your third Esper.
Viridian Pot
- Location: Water Shrine, lower western route.
- Level: 22
- Required item: Mist Ether.
- Rewards: 270 EXP, 240 Gil, 200 MRP on Normal, and a chance to obtain an Elixir.
You’ll encounter another Viridian Pot while exploring the Water Shrine, just like the one in the Wind Shrine during Chapter 2.

It has 99,999 HP and nullifies physical and magical attacks, so there’s no point fighting it normally. Instead, use a Mist Ether during battle to end the encounter and collect your rewards.
You can also switch to Expert difficulty beforehand to increase the MRP reward to 300. This is a one-time encounter, so make sure you have a Mist Ether before interacting with it.
Best EXP and Gil Farming Spots in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 3
Olderion has some useful farming opportunities if you’re looking to strengthen your party before the Water Shrine.
Mini Gil Snappers — Best Early Gil Farming
Mini Gil Snappers appear in the southern Olderion Federation and are useful for earning money quickly. Each one rewards 1,500 Gil when defeated, making them a good source of income during Chapter 3. You can also steal a Small Golden Shell from them, which sells for another 2,500 Gil.

If you’ve already unlocked Zidane’s Steal ability, this is a good opportunity to put it to use. Stealing before defeating the enemy can make these encounters more profitable.
EXP Farming Around Olderion
For regular EXP, the enemies around the Cave of Waters, Waterfall Way, and Water Shrine are reasonable targets as you advance through Chapter 3. Enemy levels increase from around 18–20 in the Cave of Waters to 23–26 in the Water Shrine, so you’ll earn more EXP as you progress into the later areas.
The Destroyers in southwest are one of the best sources of EXP, but they’re tough so they can be a bit hard to farm.
All Missable Items and Secrets in Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 3
Chapter 3 has several optional activities and hidden rewards to collect before departing Olderion. Most can be revisited later, but completing them during your first visit saves backtracking.
Chapter 3 Stat Choices
There are two story decisions in Chapter 3 that grant permanent stat bonuses to your party members. The first occurs near the beginning of the chapter during a conversation with Lid, while the second happens later in Olderion with Nichol.
| Character | Available Bonuses | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Lid | Strength +3, Magic +3, Stamina +3 | Strength +3 |
| Nichol | HP +30, Magic +3, Speed +3 | Speed +3 |
Lid benefits from additional Strength because of her physical attacks, while Speed helps Nichol act earlier with his support abilities. These bonuses cannot be changed afterward without reloading an earlier save, so choose carefully if you’re optimizing your characters.
The Third Tablet Shard in Cave of Waters
One Tablet Shard inside the Cave of Waters isn’t available during your first visit. You’ll need to return after the story changes the water level, opening access to a previously inaccessible section. Follow the newly available route, climb the ladders, and collect the shard before moving on.
Hidden Guardian Sword in Waterfall Way
The Guardian Sword is one of the better hidden pieces of equipment in Chapter 3. Near the end of Waterfall Way, look behind one of the waterfalls in the northwestern part of the area to discover a secret passage leading to its treasure chest. It’s easy to overlook if you’re following the main path toward the next objective.
Rare Heavy Crossbow Drop
The Destroyers found in western Olderion are worth fighting beyond their role in the Mechabo Evolved side quest. They have a rare chance to drop the Heavy Crossbow, a physical weapon that can be equipped by Fina.
Since you need to defeat three Destroyers for the Mechabo upgrade anyway, you might get lucky and obtain one while completing the quest.
Extra Jump Rope Rewards in Chapter 4
Although you can only earn the first three jump rope rewards during Chapter 3, the minigame doesn’t end there. Return to Olderion after Chapter 4 begins to attempt the 30, 40, and 60-jump challenges, which reward a Mist X-Potion, Swift Badge, and Magicite. The Swift Badge and Magicite are worth returning for once the remaining challenges become available.
Before boarding the ship bound for Zoldaad, check that you’ve collected all 15 Tablet Shards, unlocked Firion, Tidus, and Squall, and completed the two new side quests.
You should also collect Carbuncle from Ruby Cave and finish the first three jump rope challenges. Rukh and Mindflayer can be left for later if they’re too difficult.
That’s everything you can find and collect in Chapter 3 of Final Fantasy Resonance.
