Exoprimal Alpha Variant Exosuits and Their Differences

Exoprimal: Alpha Variant Exosuits and Their Differences

Can Alpha Variants bring more variety to the Exoprimal?

So, Exoprimal is out, and opinions are divided, although many like the crazy design and smooth gameplay of Capcom’s new dino-shooter, many criticize the game’s price, microtransactions, and lack of content. Even though Exoprimal comes with 10 very different Exosuits, it has essentially only one mode – Dino Survival, which isn’t that different whether you play it in PvP or PvE mode. The new post-game mode Savage Gauntlet has already been announced for the next update, as well as new variants of all 10 Exosuits – which will really add a lot more options to this recently released live service game.

Each of the 10 Exosuits will receive an additional “Alpha Variant” version with the Exoprimal update that is scheduled for August 17, 2023, which will officially mark the start of Season 1.

So what are Alpha Variants exactly? In addition to a completely new look for the existing Exosuits, these alternative versions also bring changes in the gameplay itself – the key difference is that each Exosuit in its Alpha Variant version carries different weapons compared to its regular version.

Check out the list below for all the differences that each Alpha Variant will bring:

  • Barrage (α Rocket Hop) – The grenade-crazy Exosuit now gets the range-increasing rocket launcher.
  • Deadeye (α Burst Fire) – Get the shotgun instead of the assault rifle that makes him more of a close-range character now.
  • Krieger (α Charge Shotgun) – New shotgun-like weapon replaces the minigun for more wide-range damage dealing.
  • Murasame (α Frost Glaive) – The samurai-like Exosuit exchanges its katana for a thicker sword that can turn blocked attacks into ground waves that freeze the enemies.
  • Nimbus (α Double Barrel) – Alpha Variant Nimbus wields two types of shotguns for attack and recovery, and now it is more focused on close range with projectiles that have a considerable spread.
  • Skywave (α Thunder Clap) – This flying support Exosuit gets to make more offense in Alpha Variant form with a powerful single-target lightning attack.
  • Roadblock (α Fortress Shield) – This tank class Exosuit can now detach and place its big shield on the field to provide better cover for the team.
  • Vigilant (α Marksman) – Instead of the high-precision sniper rifle Vigilant in its Alpha Variant form comes with a semi-automatic rifle that has random crit chance.
  • Witchdoctor (α Duality Beam) – With its different healing staff Witchdoctor can now focus attack or healing on only one unit.
  • Zephyr (α Energy Chakram) – Here we have melee-only Exosuits that will now get some range attacks with its new Chakram weapon.

With the new end-game mode and all these alternative versions of Exosuits arriving before the start of Season 1, it seems that Exoprimal is off to a good start at least as far as the delivery of new content is concerned. Whether this will be enough to inspire players to stay in the game remains to be seen.
