How to Earn Shapeshifter Trophy/Achievement in Exoprimal

How to emerge victorious using five different suits in Dino Survival

One of the rarest and most confusingly-worded trophies/achievements in Exoprimal is called Shapeshifter, which tasks players with emerging victorious using five different Exosuits in Capcom’s new dinosaur-slaying third-person shooter. Here is the step-by-step walkthrough to obtaining Shapeshifter in Exoprimal, which has only been earned by 1% of Xbox players as of this writing.

Shapeshifter Explained in Exoprimal

Although Shapeshifter’s description makes it sound like you have to win five separate matches of Dino Survival with five Exosuits, in reality, you have to win a single match of Exoprimal’s game mode using five different mechs. This can be a very challenging feat, as the strategic, team-based dynamics of the game can make five wardrobe changes detrimental to victory. However, here is the best strategy I have found to conquer Shapeshifter easily.

Unless you are going to attempt to earn Shapeshifter during the main story missions, which involve ten-player co-op battles inside Leviathan’s virtual arenas packed with vicious dinos, the easiest path to conquering the achievement is by playing standard rounds of Dino Survival and changing suits between objectives.

As you (probably) already know, Dino Survival pits two teams against each other in a race to fulfill dinosaur killing quotas. The best way to change suits AND win is to utilize Exoprimal’s support classes that operate on the periphery of battles, such as Witchdoctor, Skywave, Nimbus, and Deadeye (an Assault mech used for freezing/sniping enemies).

Then, once you reach the final phase, choose any of the remaining suits you prefer, which may depend on whether you are playing PvP vs. PvE modes of the game. Personally, I chose Krieger as my fifth class when I completed the achievement due to its many strengths.

How to Change Suits in Exoprimal

Changing suits in Exoprimal is an easy but somewhat slow process. First, you must open the suit menu, choose which mech you want to switch into, and hit ok using the corresponding button/key on your platform of choice. After this, you will be treated to an animation of your created character exiting their current suit.

For a short time, your character will be in the “pilot” state, with decreased health and only a gun protecting them from the bloodthirsty monsters of Exoprimal.

After a momentary waiting period, you can jump back into the mech you selected from the menu, once again using the corresponding button/key combo on your platform of choice. You will once more be treated to a mech animation, this time of your character climbing back into their Exosuit.

After you have used five different suits in a game of Dino Survival, you have one final task: win the match. Make sure to cooperate with your teammates, use your mech’s strengths, or maybe ride your team’s coattails to victory if you must, and you will emerge with the rare silver PlayStation trophy or Xbox achievement worth 30 Gamerscore. However, be warned, as I personally found that Shapeshifter took multiple attempts to “pop” despite meeting every condition.

In summation, Shapeshifter is best accomplished using support Exosuits and switching between objectives. For more Exoprimal achievement guides, check out how to earn Spear Stopper.
