Below are the steps for completing the “Breaking Bones” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley:

  • Talk to Scrooge McDuck.
  • Return to Scar.
  • Gather the materials to improve your Royal Shovel: Lion’s Claws x5, Dry Wood x5, Iron Ingot x5
  • Craft the Lion’s Claw Shovel Head.
  • Improve the Shovel by using the new Lion’s Claw Shovel Head.
  • Remove the small Wildebeest bones littering the Sunlit Plateau x5
  • Return to Scar.

After you finish the Friends Aren’t Food mission and raise Scar’s friendship level to three, you can speak to him to begin this quest. He’ll disapprove of the wildebeest bones scattered around the Sunlit Plateau and request that you remove them. However, since your shovel is too weak, he advises you to ask Scrooge McDuck about the situation. Go find Scrooge McDuck to start the first part of this mission.

After a brief discussion with Scrooge McDuck, he’ll give you a shovel mold to help you with your journey. The problem? He doesn’t know what items you have to use to make it! You’ll have to return to Scar to find out. When you do, you’ll discover that you have to gather the following ingredients:

  • Lion’s Claws x5: Dig up sparkling dirt mounds dotted along the cliffsides of Sunlit Plateau.
  • Dry Wood x5: Pick up the white wood piles from Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights and the Forgotten Lands.
  • Iron Ingots x5: Get Iron Ore from the Glade of Trust and Forest of Valor before crafting them into Iron Ingots.

Once you gather all the necessary items, head to any nearby crafting station to make the shovel head. It’ll appear in your inventory for you to use. After using it, you’ll gain the ability to break small Wildebeest Bones in Sunlit Plateau. This is exactly what you have to do now to progress through the quest.

Throughout the Plateau, you’ll find a mix of small and large animal bones to break. While the large bones look like the ones blocking the western bridges, the small ones are around half the size. Look around the Plateau and the Elephant Graveyard to break these bones before returning to Scar one last time.

Upon having one last conversation with Scar, you’ll officially complete the Breaking Bones quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
