While it may look simple, it does have a steep learning curve, especially for players who haven’t played a single Monster Hunter title yet.

If you want to learn more about the Dual Blades weapon, this comprehensive guide will cover its best weapons and combos while explaining all the mechanics, such as Demon Mode and Archdemon Mode.

Dual Blades Weapon Overview in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Dual Blades boasts many fast combos, dealing multiple instances of damage, but with really low damage. The weapon shines by always sticking to the monster because of its fast attacks and mobility.

The damage scales up extremely fast when you get access to elemental weapons, which are the Dual Blades’ bread and butter. By landing multiple instances of damage, you inflict the most elemental damage out of any of the weapons.

Your playstyle will revolve around hitting the monster as often as possible and utilizing the Demon Mode and Archdemon Mode as much as possible. These states or modes give you access to attacks and combos to generate more damage.

Apart from new attacks and combos, you also get the ability to fade while attacking, which is a side step or a slight turn while doing combos. It takes a while to get used to since you must learn the monster’s behavior and time your “fade” attacks perfectly to position yourself better during a combo.

However, small mobility mechanics like these make the Dual Blades incredibly strong. Mastering the Demon Mode and Archdemon Mode, along with good stamina and Demon Gauge usage, should be your top priority, as the combos are easy to remember.

Overall, Dual Blades is one of the easiest weapons to learn because of its simple combos and easy-to-grasp mechanics compared to other weapons.

Demon Mode, Archdemon Mode, Demon Booster Mode, and the Demon Gauge Explained

Before getting to the combos, you must learn the different states or modes of using the Dual Blades.

Demon Mode puts you in a state that boosts attack, movement speed, and evasion while constantly depleting your stamina gauge while active. The Demon Mode state is canceled if your stamina reaches zero, or if you cancel it using the Demon Mode again. In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can now move while activating Demon Mode, a massive change for Dual Blade users.

Hitting targets while on Demon Mode increases your Demon Gauge. Once full, you’ll enter Archdemon Mode. Demon Gauge gradually decreases over time, so you must capitalize on using it as much as possible.

Performing attacks while on Archdemon Mode also consumes some of the Demon Gauge. The Archdemon Mode adds new combos and boosted attacks compared to the Demon Mode.

There’s also a “Demon Boost Mode” that activates when you perform a successful “perfect evade,” making your evades or dodges perform an attack.

Demon Mode – Demon Flurry Rush – Roundslash – Double Roundslash(Demon Mode) Circle + Circle + Circle(Demon Mode) B + B + BA common Demon Mode combo, which should be used often to fill up the Demon Gauge.

The best Dual Blade combo is to mix the Demon Fangs and Demon Flurry Rush combos (Y + Y + Y + B + B + B) to fill up your Demon Gauge. After the combo, you can enter Archdemon Mode and use the Blade Dance and Blade Flurry combo.

Depending on the situation, you might be forced to stop your combos short to dodge or maybe use some fade slashes. Fade attacks are any basic attacks (Y or B) paired with a directional button while on Archdemon mode.

Best Dual Blades Weapons and Armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

Best Dual Blades Weapon Tree

Dual Blades rely heavily on elemental damage. The added elemental damage works perfectly with the Dual Blades’ fast attacks, inflicting more damage and potential status effects on the monster.

While progressing, you generally want to have two Dual Blades with opposite elements like Ice and Fire. When fighting a strong monster against the Fire element, you can switch to your Ice version, and vice versa.

However, players would also love to try new weapons in this case. They would have one Dual Blade and another preferred weapon type.

The best early-game Dual Blades weapon would depend on what is available, but the Ajara Twin Edges should be the best early Dual Blades weapon for its Blast damage. You can start switching to other elements like the Blango Trishula (Ice).

At the endgame, you look at several possible weapons like the Precipice Ulokiem (300 Ice damage) or Dual Kut-Ku (250 Fire). Critical strike builds would want the Thunder weapons, specifically the Fulgurt Guardiana for the Critical Element Level 3 equipment skill.

When you start grinding a lot more at the endgame, you’ll work your way into forging an Artian weapon. This depends on what you want to build in the end. If you want a critical strike elemental build, you must forge three Dragon-type rarity 8 with Affinity Infusions when forging your Artian weapon.

Materials for these Artian weapons might be hard to farm, so ensure you are positive when crafting these weapons.

Best Dual Blades Armor Sets

As for armor, you don’t want anything in particular while progressing. You just want a good mix of armor pieces from different sets to avoid resistance problems.

For example, if you use the simple Chatacabra armor set from the first monster and think of completing the set, you’ll get a massive penalty on your Lightning Resistance. Combining one or two pieces from the Chatacabra and adding a Rey Dau armor piece could cancel the Lightning Resistance penalties.

Consider combining equipment skills while mixing some armor sets in the mid to endgame. Evade Window, Adrenaline Rush, Constitution, Burst, and Power Prolonger are some of the best equipment skills for Dual Blades

Adrenaline Rush increases your attack power after executing perfectly timed evades, which is great for non-elemental Dual Blade builds. Evade Window is perfect for helping you get those timely evades.

Constitution helps you maintain your stamina better, so you can maintain your Demon Modes for much longer. Burst is probably the best equipment skill for damage, as it increases your attacks and elemental attacks for continuously hitting the target multiple times. Power Prolonger gives you a power-up boost for more damage as well.

Look into armor sets that have these equipment skills. The Burst equipment skill could come from the Ebony, Conga, or Udra armor sets, depending on which pieces you are getting. Gore, Hirabami, Rathalos, Butterfly, Balahara, and Barina give you an Evade Window.

A great endgame armor set would probably be a mix of Gore and Ebony armor pieces with a combination of the equipment skills mentioned above.
