Setting up the radial menu is one of the most overlooked features by many beginners in Monster Hunter Wilds. Monster Hunter Wilds gives players a lot of freedom in using its encyclopedic number of consumables and tools for hunting monsters.
Some of these tools are niche or situational and utilizing multiple radial wheel loadouts will help save some preparation time. Here’s how to customize your radial menu wheels in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to Change Your Radial Menu in Monster Hunter Wilds

There are two ways to change or customize your radial menu: through the items and equipment menu or inside the tent. Find the “Customize Radial Menu,” which will open the Radial Menu, starting with the action category.

On the lower-left corner of your screen, you’ll see which buttons to press to set up the wheel. Since the action menu’s default selections are all hugely important, you want to add consumables or tools instead of removing or rearranging the default keybinds.
Whetstone, Optimal Status Recovery, Optimal Healing, and SOS Flares are all constantly used binds, so you want to memorize and keep them in your radial menu shortcut.
Go to the sub-menu to look at other radial menu loadouts. Choose a radial menu you want to edit, preferably a new one. Manually input or “register” items on the wheel by pressing “register” while choosing a slot on the wheel. This should take you to the second window, which would be your consumable items.
Navigate through your consumable items. If you are looking for tools or other items, switch through the tabs using the L2/LT or R2/RT on the controller. Once you find the right one, register them until you complete the radial menu or wheel.

Best Radial Menu Loadouts in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds has improved many of its quality-of-life combat features by implementing optimal recovery and optimal status recovery options. Using optimal recovery will use the “best” healing consumable item needed for your situation. If you are only slightly hurt, you’ll only use a Potion. If you barely have any HP, you’ll use your strongest recovery item.
The status recovery option will use any available consumable item that can cure your current status effect or ailment. This feature helps you focus more on curating a radial menu for tools and other hunting consumables.
Use a separate radial menu for hunting-related consumables and place the following items:
- Demon Powder/Demondrug
- Drugged Meat
- Barrel Bombs (Large/Mega)
- Available traps like Pitfall Trap or Shock Traps
- Hot/Cold Drinks
- Well-Done Steaks
While all these are subjective, you can add or remove more things depending on your preferences.
