So you’re grinding out some camos in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and it’s time for you to start picking enemies off with longshot kills. If you’re at this step, you’re likely tackling the Platinum leg of the camo race and that means tons of longshots are required to reach the next step.
Regardless of the step that you’re on for MW2 camos, there is always a best method for making sure the challenges are done faster. In this case, we want to focus on longshots, and luckily there are a couple of methods to make the grind much easier. We’ll make sure you get to Polyatomic even faster and waste less time on the most boring camo step.
COD Modern Warfare 2 – Best Way to Get Longshot Kills
The first step to speeding up this process is playing in the Tier 1 multiplayer playlist. For the time being, Tier 1 is the placeholder for Hardcore or Barebones modes. That means there are minimal HUD options and players all have much less base health. With less health overall, most longshots can be done with one or two shots from the majority of MW2 weapons.
Another method to help you track your longshots is to use the XTEN Angel sight for your weapons. The sight will display the range of your reticle, and in a mode like Tier 1 where there is no HUD or kill feed, it helps to know the difference in range. Many weapon classes have different ranges that qualify as a longshot and they can be found below.
- Sniper Rifles – 50m
- Assault Rifles – 38m
- Battle Rifles – 38m
- Marksman Rifles – 38m
- Light Machine Guns – 38m
- Submachine Guns – 30m
- Pistols – 20m
- Shotguns – 12.5m
Snipers are one of the only classes that you should take into Ground War instead of Tier 1. You’ll need maps with far more range and the one-shot mechanics will still apply. With everything else in mind, just throw on a show or a YouTube video in the background and relax while you ground out the Platinum longshots for Modern Warfare 2.
