All Artifacts in the Deserted Village in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – Exact Locations

Who doesn’t love a little scavenger hunt on Chocoboback? And if you unlock four lifesprings in the Corel Region, Chadley will let you know about a Transmutation Chip in the Deserted Village. The Deserted Village is just outside of the Borderlands, where Johnny will wait for you during the quest The Seaside Saga.

When you’ve got four Lifesprings under your belt, head to the Deserted Village just to the right of the Borderlands. There are three artifacts to uncover here. We’ll go in the order you’ll encounter them as you walk inside.

The first artifact can be found behind the first building on your left. Walk past its entrance, then turn left, then left again to see a narrow space behind the building. Press Up on your D-Pad to let your Chocobo scent the air, and use your joystick to point the Chocobo in the direction of the arrow on the blue circle. When the treasure spot reveals itself, press Down on the D-Pad to let your Chocobo dig it up. You’ll receive a transmutation chip that will let you create the Karmic Cowl, which will require a Tonberry King’s Robe and the ability to create Manifestations of the Planet’s Benison.

Next, head back to the main road of the Deserted Village and continue up the trail. Then, turn left and enter the open area. You’ll encounter a Sandspitter here, which is weak to Blizzard. Once the sand fish is dead, continue a little forward and you’ll find the next treasure to the right of the blue tarp near the pipe. You’ll receive a transmutation chip for a Bird Trap, which will let you complete the quest Missing: Mr. Birdie.

Our final transmutation chip requires us to go to the very end of the deserted village. Follow the path to the very end, then go right up the stairs. You’ll be in front of a house. and up to the final house on the right. Behind this house is the last treasure, which will give you armor upgrade 6.

Armor upgrade 6:

  • Enhanced Abyssal Bangle.
  • Enhanced Oldbeast Bracelet.

Not a bad haul! But really, the Deserted Village is just a good jump point for those who’ve completed the side quest The Saga of the Seaside Inn or want to complete the quest Missing: Mr. Birdie, which should be your next step.
