Pride in-person may be cancelled due to COVID-19, but that doesn't mean the celebration and honoring the fight for equal rights should go unsung.

Pride in-person may be canceled due to COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean the celebration and honoring the fight for equal rights should go unsung. Using the #SimsPride2020 hashtag, The Sims players are highly encouraged to share their best Sims Pride looks on social media starting June 15 until June 29 for a chance to be officially featured in the upcoming The Sims Pride Celebration Event. The chosen participants will be made aware of their spot during the virtual Pride parade that is going live on the official The Sims Twitch channel on June 30 in partnership with YouTuber EnglishSummer.

“Now more than ever, it’s important to remember that while Pride is a time for celebration, it’s also a moment for reflection and solidarity,” reads a recent press statement from EA. “All of us are facing difficult, emotional challenges in real life right now. Celebrating Pride might feel complicated as people face the systemic oppression of the Black community head-on and brave the isolation of COVID-19. But none of us are alone.”

They added, “This month, and every month, it is critical to support equality on all levels. The Sims is committed to creating the world as it should be, one that is kinder, more connected, and built on representation and freedom of expression. We believe diverse and inclusive worlds are better worlds, both virtual and real. Our community is full of wonderful, beautiful people from all over the planet, and The Sims 4 should reflect that—we wouldn’t have it any other way. We constantly and consciously strive to improve on that front. The Sims is a safe space for experimenting with your identity, relationships, and interests. We want this game to empower you to express yourself, explore the possibilities, and continue to play with life. The Sims team is proud to celebrate our LGBTQ+ community.”
