Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Video Shows Off New Areas & Garangolm Gameplay

The video starts with a look at a delipidated castle, it’s one of the first things you’ll see when loading into this new zone. It’s an iconic landmark of the region and is home to some real nasty monsters. The overgrown interiors show off dangerous marks of creatures passing through and are a mystery for players to uncover.

The region is filled with different areas like snowy mountains and what looks to be a purple poisonous swamp.

The video itself doesn’t show too much of the new areas but gives players a sense of the vibe that Sunbreak is going for. At night the flora and fauna of the region glow, giving everything an ominous and brooding feel to the Citadel.

A separate video was also uploaded that shows off a fight against one of the new monsters, the Garangolm. Relying on its brute strength at first the monster quickly covers itself in moss and mud to kick things up a notch. Its speed cranks up and the hunt will really get going when it uses its elemental charged attacks.

The video doesn’t show the conclusion of the fight, the developers are leaving that a surprise for fans when the expansion launches, but it’s a great showcase of what the Garangolm is capable of.

There is plenty more to still learn about Sunbreak before it launches for the Nintendo Switch and PC on June 30, 2022.

The information around the expansion keeps growing, we’ve already seen some dangerous new monsters, our cute Palamutes with guns strapped to them, and now a further look into some of the new areas in Sunbreak.
