The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion launches in just a few months, and the Twitter account shared incredibly important news this morning. Your trusty Palamute companions can now *checks notes* carry a gun.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Gives Your Palamute Companions a Gun

Yes, you read that correctly. These good pups can now be equipped with a bowgun on their backs to help fire on monsters from afar. Originally, Palamutes and Palicoes could help in a fight with their weapons and special traps, but Sunbreak seems to be upping the ante.

We don’t have any more information outside of this short gif posted by the official Twitter account, but that’s enough to have caught our attention. This means while you’re jamming out on your Hunting Horn or swiftly cutting through the air on your Insect Glaive the Palamute can just start blasting.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has found a way to turn an already powerful ally into a full-on killing machine. What companion hasn’t been made better by giving it a large weapon to rain death from above? Does Dogmeat from the Fallout series have a gun? I didn’t think so.

As Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak gets closer to its June 30, 2022 release date, we’re sure to hear more about the new abilities your Palamutes and Palicoes will have. Maybe an even bigger gun? Who’s to say, but we’re excited to learn more.
