Creating a ScareScraper
If you opt to create a new ScareScraper, use the available settings to customize your game. Choose the type of ScareScraper you wish to create, the number of floors it will contain, and the ScareScraper’s level of difficulty.
Once you create the ScareScraper, up to three other players can join the game.
ScareScraper Types
Hunter Mode
In Hunter Mode, players work their way up the ScareScraper by capturing all of the ghosts on each floor.
Rush Mode
In Rush Mode, players must reach the exit hatch in the allotted time. Collect the Timepieces that occasionally appear to add more time to the clock. Timepieces can be found while searching objects, or earned by defeating enemies and disabling traps.
When a floor is cleared of ghosts, all players must proceed to the exit hatch and stand on the nearby pressure switches.
Polterpup Mode
In Polterpup Mode, players progress through the ScareScraper by capturing all of the Polterpups on each floor.
When you arrive on each floor, use the Dark-Light Device to follow the Polterpups’ trails. When you reach the end of the trails, use the Dark-Light Device to reveal the hidden doghouse. When you do, the Polterpups flee the area. Use the Dark-Light Device to follow the fresh trails and track down all of the Polterpups.
Red Coins
Red Coin Scramble
When you clear a floor, it triggers a Red Coin Scramble. During a Red Coin Scramble, players must collect the Red Coins that appear at different locations on the map. If all of the Red Coins are collected within the allotted time, a Red Coin Bonus initiates before you arrive at the next floor.
Red Coin Bonus
Each time you complete a Red Coin Scramble, a Red Coin Bonus activates before you arrive at the next floor. During this event, one player is awarded a power-up that can be used while playing through the next floor. The more Red Coins you collect, the better your chance of winning the Red Coin Bonus.
The winning player will receive one of the following power-ups:
- ×2 Poltergust (The player’s Power Gauge fills twice as fast.)
- ×3 Poltergust (The player’s Power Gauge fills three times as fast.)
- Map (The full map of the next floor is revealed for all players.)
- Glasses (The player can see hidden objects at all times.)
- Restorator (The player’s Poltergust produces Hearts when it captures a ghost.)
Working Together
Curses
As you search objects, there’s a chance you’ll become cursed. When you’re cursed, sliding the Circle Pad causes you to move in the opposite direction. To make matters worse, afflicted players can spread the curse to others. The only way to remove a curse is to have another player remove it with their Dark-Light Device.
Vases
It’s possible to become trapped while searching large vases. Once trapped, the only way to escape the vase is to have another player A-Pull the attached chain.
Rugs
Some rugs sink into the ground when you step on them. Once trapped, the only way to escape from the rug is to have another player A-Pull one of the attached tassels.
Reviving Downed Players
When players lose all of their health, approach the downed players and press
to revive them.
Boss Ghosts
Each time you clear four floors of the ScareScraper, you’ll encounter a boss ghost. Defeat the boss ghost to continue to the next floor. When you reach the top floor, capture the final boss ghost to complete the ScareScraper.
