Palworld offers a diverse selection of weapons, ranging from primitive to modern, for taking down hostile Pals and human enemies. While ranged weapons allow you to eliminate targets from a safe distance, they come with the drawback of requiring ammunition. Crafting ammo can be tedious since it involves gathering materials. Because of this, melee weapons can sometimes be a more practical choice—and the Katana stands out as one of the best mid-game options. In this guide, we will explain how to obtain the Katana in Palworld.

How To Get the Katana in Palworld
You need to reach level 29 and unlock the Katana blueprint from the Technology tree in order to craft this melee weapon in Palworld.
Unlocking the Katana blueprint requires investing two Technology points, so make sure you have them already. After that, you will require at least one of the following crafting benches to craft the Katana:
- Weapon Workbench
- High-Quality Workbench
- Production Assembly Line
- Weapon Assembly Line
- Production Assembly Line II
- Weapon Assembly Line II
Besides the crafting station, you will also need to have the following resources in order to craft at least one Katana in Palworld:
- Wood x20
- Stone x20
- Ingot x30
How to Get Wood
Wood is one of the easiest materials to obtain in Palworld. If you are new to the game, then you may want first to obtain the axe and then use it at the trees to get wood easily.
As you progress further and get more pals with Lumbering skills, such as the Lifmunk, they will obtain the wood for you automatically when you’ve built a Logging Site on your base.
How to Get Stone
Besides wood, stone is another early game resource that is easy to come by. For this, you will need a pickaxe and then simply use it on rocks. You can collect the stone with bare hands too, but a pickaxe or better-quality equipment will give you higher yields.
Once you reach level 7, unlock the Stone Pit from the technology tree and build it at your base to automate the stone-gathering process. However, you will still need at least one mining pal such as Digtoise, Cattiva, or Fuddler in your base who can work on the Stone Pit.
How to Get Ingots
In order to make ingots in your base, you will first need to mine the ore (rock boulder with shiny brown surface) and then build a Primitive Furnace by reaching level 10 of Technology Tree.
After that, catch at least one fire-type pal with Kindling skill; the Foxsparks is the best early-game option for this task. When you interact with the Primitive Furnace and place a crafting order of ingots, the fire-type pal will work on it and make ingots for you.

Katana Stats
Stats | Description |
---|---|
Weight | 10 |
Damage | 525 |
Durability | 500 |
Rarity | Common |
Category | Melee |
Even though Katana is a Common rarity melee weapon in Palworld, the 525 damage is very high for its class and it slices up most foes in one strike. The Meowmere sword, the crossover Terraria weapon, offers only 200 damage — and that’s a Legendary rarity melee weapon.
This makes Katana a better melee weapon although it has just 500 durability compared to Meowmere’s 2222 durability.
