How to Get and Use the Primitive Furnace in Palworld

Light a fire in your base.

As you spend time exploring the early-game portion of Palworld, you’re bound to mine some ore along the way, but what’s the purpose of this resource? You need to get and use a Primitive Furance to smelt ore into ingots, that’s what!

How to Unlock the Primitive Furance in Palworld

To unlock the Primitive Furnace in Palworld, you must first hit level 10. The Primitive Furnace will then require three Technology Points to unlock in the Technology Tree. Once unlocked, you’ll then be able to craft one anywhere in your base, using the following materials:

  • 20x Wood.
  • 50x Stone.
  • 3x Flame Organs.

The Flame Organs may prove the most challenging resource to obtain when building a Primitive Furnace, but you can acquire a small handful by tracking down and battling fire-type Pals, like Foxparks in the starting zone.

Overall, the Primitive Furnace isn’t overly expensive. You’ll want to craft two or three around your base to ensure smelting continues around the clock. I like to build two Primitive Furnaces, especially in the early to mid-game, as I don’t usually have a ton of ore flowing at that point yet and only a select few slots for Pals to work in my base.

How to Use the Primitive Furnace

Once you’ve built a Primitive Furnace in Palworld, you’ll immediately notice that it’s not the type of crafting point you can interact with unlike the Primitive Workbench or Red Berry Farm. Instead, you must assign a Fire-type Pal to the Primitive Furnace, allowing them to use their Kindling ability to heat ore and craft ingots or other valuable items for mid-game crafting and construction.

Furthermore, once you hit level 20, you should unlock and place a Flame Cauldron near the Primitive Furnace. It’s a helpful item that boosts the efficiency of Kindling, making crafting more effortless and faster overall!

Best Pals for Kindling in Palworld

As mentioned, you need a fire-type Pal capable of producing Kindling to use a Primitive Furnace. The best options include:

  • Foxparks (early game).
  • Blazamut.
  • Blazehowl.
  • Faleris.
  • Reptyro.
  • Jormuntide Ignis.

The best Pal to assign to your Primitive Furnace early on is Foxparks as it is readily available in Palworld’s starting area. But as you progress in the game and collect more Pals, you’ll want to set your sights on capturing Pals with a higher level in Kindling.

The higher the Kindling ability, the better. Pals with Level 3 Kindling provide some of the most efficient smelting. But once you get far enough into Palworld, you’ll want to find a Jormuntide Ignis: the only Pal with Kindling level 4.
