Here is how fishing works in Palworld, what equipment you’ll need, and how to make sure you never miss.

Fishing in Palworld

To start fishing in Palworld, you’ll first need the proper gear. This means crafting a Fishing Rod that won’t betray you when you have something on the line. Then you’ll need Bait to bait the Pal fish, and catch them by completing the mini-game. I’ll break down the steps on how this works.

Unlock the Fishing Rod

Like every important thing in Palworld, the Fishing Rods have to be researched in the technology tab first. There are three types currently available, and you’ll have access to the basic one at level 15 of the Technology section.

Craft Fishing Rod

Once you have researched the Fishing Rod, you need to craft it at the High Quality Workbench. Each rod type requires different ingredients.

Craft Bait

The fishing rod is just one part of fishing; you’ll also need bait to lure in the fish. Bait can also be crafted at the High Quality Workbench.

Now that you have the bait and the fishing rod, you can start fishing.

Fishing Mechanic in Palworld Explained

Fishing is pretty much possible everywhere there is water. So, head over to a beach, and you’ll see silhouettes underwater, which are pretty obviously fish pals.

  • Aim your rod right above these shadows, and wait. Eventually, the fish will take the bait, and you’ll see an alert sign. This is your cue to pull the line.
  • Once the fish is hooked, a mini-game will start, and you’ll see a fish icon above a bar move around. You have to keep the green bar below it in its position, so everything is green.
  • Keep doing this till the meter above is filled up, and you’ll catch the fish.

This is the loop of fishing in Palworld. Better bait and equipment will result in better catch, and if you really enjoy the activity, you’ll want to invest in both.

Fishing In Your Base

While it’s great that you can fish in any water mass in Palworld, if you want to wish at your base, you can build a Fishing Pond or a Large Fishing Pond at your base after researching both in the technology tab.

That should get you started on your fishing journey in Palworld and find all sorts of aquatic Pals for your collection.
