We all thought that slide canceling getting removed from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would save our sticks, but something even worst took over. Now that Ranked Play is out and incredibly popular, players have abused snake movement more than ever to get ahead.
You’ve likely seen players snaking like their money is on the line in casual playlists or in Ranked Play modes. It’s a constant flow of head glitching and proning that makes the player utilizing the movement dangerous and much harder to kill. To even out the playing field, we have a guide for you on how to snake in COD MW2.
COD MW2 Ranked Play – How to Snake
Using this movement is super simple on paper, but it will take some practice to truly master when you’re in a match. Snaking is a combination of going prone and quickly crouching, then going back to prone. This is done over and over as fast as possible to get the basis of the movement.
Momentum is also important to a proper snake in MW2 Ranked Play as well. You need to move forward as you prone and quickly back up as you crouch once again. Mixing the momentum with the movement creates the effect where your head is briefly visible on a head glitch.

When done correctly, you can instantly go back to prone if you’re even shot once, which can save you in nearly every defensive Ranked Play fight in COD. Snake movements can also be sued offensively to gain information on the map with nearly no danger involved or to quickly ADS and earn a pick when you crouch back up. There’s a reason this movement is spammed by all the top players, and until the movement is nerfed, expect to see all kinds of players using it.
