World of Warcraft Classic Level Up Fast

As someone who didn’t look back on vanilla World of Warcraft with rose-colored glasses, I remember the grind was anything but lovely. We did it, and the rewards were sweet and the raids were sick, but that doesn’t mean it was always the most enjoyable time. For those now realizing the grim reality that Classic isn’t exactly the experience we all thought it was going to be, here are a few ways you can make it even better.

Log out smartly

Don’t just log when you’re done, log out smartly. The best way to do this is to make sure you get to an Inn or a City, safe points on the map free from danger, for some additional experience points called Rested EXP. This EXP will double the EXP earned when slaying monsters after you jump back into the game, which means a little additional added on experience to gain those levels a bit faster.

Questing

Quests are important, they always have been with this type of game and they always will be. Grab, and complete, every quest you see. This is the most direct way to earn bigger chunks of EXP while unlocking rewards and narrative progression. That being said, quests aren’t the same as they are in the present-day World of Warcraft. In Classic, quests are dependant on the zones and tailored to player levels, which means you will need to be aware of your current standing in-game and take on the quests better suited for your level before moving on to other quests and different zones.

Below you can find each zone with its attributed levels:

Spend wisely, not rashly

It should be common sense not to go all willy nilly with your gold but you’d be surprised how many careless spenders there are! No tea, no shade, I’m guilty of this myself, but if you want to rank up faster, you’re going to want to ignore those knee-jerk urges to spend, spend, spend.

When playing through Classic, the game is designed to make players think that they need to by every single rank and ability offered and that’s just not the case. There are plenty of resources online, including our own original World of Warcraft hub, that offer builds the stack smartly when looking to acquire abilities and spells. You don’t need all of them, you just need the ones that work best with your playstyle and class chosen.

Kill, kill, kill

This one is pretty self-explanatory. As World of Warcraft progressed, the mechanics changed in a way that seasoned players would almost make fun of newbie characters jumping on and scrounging for XP by killing anything that moved. With World of Warcraft Classic, that’s exactly what you need to do because not every kill warrants a drop, which can elongate quests immensely, and every kill means more EXP. Kill every monster you see, leave none left standing.

Hone your craft

When grinding out the story, you’re going to want to craft and train to your heart’s content. Gathering professions in-game are crucial when it comes to skills and earning that much-needed EXP to rank up faster. Not only that, but crafting and professions also add up to gold accrued. You can also take those drops seen in the Kill, Kill, Kill portion to sell to merchants or to craft unique items that others in Classic will want to buy whether it be a friend or an eager NPC.

Dungeons

Dungeons, while at first-glance not being the jackpot of EXP, is a great way for players that may have missed the time of vanilla WoW to get a better understanding of the game itself while also providing an opportunity to take out as many enemies as possible (remember kill, kill, kill?). With a smart party comp, the EXP gains can be maximized offering rewards that are meaningful, a break from the normal grind, and EXP galore for those taking everything they can get.

And those are our best tips for how to level up fast in World of Warcraft: Classic! Open-world grinding is also a way to get some EXP with rounding up groups and taking them out but the above steps are the easiest way to fast-track that character to 60 without being driven to drink. We think.
