As of late, Hogwarts Legacy has been gaining popularity for various reasons. Recent gameplay showcases fuel some hype; in other cases, controversy sparks it. Others may notice Hogwarts Legacy’s price tag and fear they may not get the best bang for their buck. In many games, this worry is amplified by features like loot boxes, battle passes and premium currency, but does this apply to Hogwarts Legacy too? If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to find out whether Hogwarts Legacy will have any microtransactions or other in-game purchases.
Will Hogwarts Legacy Have Microtransactions or In-Game Purchases?
The quick and simple answer, supported by information on the official Frequently Asked Questions page and from Avalanche’s Community Manager, is no, Hogwarts Legacy will not have microtransactions. We can safely assume that features like premium currency, one-time special abilities and cosmetics will not be locked behind any form of paywall. The only exception is the Dark Arts Pack. While you can get it for free with Hogwarts Legacy’s Deluxe Edition, you have the alternative option of purchasing it separately.
Whether or not this is good or bad news depends entirely on your personal preference. While some may be thankful that gameplay features aren’t reliant on microtransactions, others may enjoy these to spice up their game.
For those who enjoy the latter, Hogwarts Legacy does have various pre-order bonuses and additional features when purchasing the Deluxe or Collector’s Editions. Alongside gaining the base game, you’ll also find an exclusive mount, shop quests, potion recipes and more, depending on which one you get.
Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch through the official website. If you’re interested in learning more about the game, check out How to Get Hogwarts Legacy Early Access and Who Are the Game’s Main Antagonists?
