Who is Gonzo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

So, you’re curious about some of the fresh faces that you’ve seen when burning through those Nook Mile tickets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Well, you may have encountered a number of different species of animal. One of our favorites is definitely the koala, and there’s a number of different varieties of villager available when it comes to this Australian marsupial. Gonzo is one that we reckon is pretty cool, and not only because he probably has the grumpiest face known to man. Sure, you might think that CJ (fishing tourney host extraordinaire) is great, but let’s see if we can convince you to be on Team Koala. This villager is a returning one from the older Animal Crossing games, but if you’re curious about who else is returning then check out this list that we’ve relinked here for your convenience.

Gonzo is a Cranky villager who has a catchphrase that we reckon you’ve heard a lot around here – “mate”. He’s a fluffy gray koala who looks eternally angry, and you’re going to run into him when he’s wearing the Earthy Knit. We stan a King of Fashion! Because of his nature, it’s going to be a little tougher for you to befriend Gonzo than a more easygoing villager like Goldie, for example, but we reckon that Cranky villagers have the best dialogue. Here are some of Gonzo’s favorite things in Animal Crossing so that you know what to get him when various events roll around:

  • Skill: Mental math
  • Goal: To be Mayor
  • Favorite song: KK D & B

Now that you’ve got a better idea of who Gonzo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is you might be able to better prepare yourself for the arrival of this Koala villager if you’ve come across him on some desert island. It won’t quite be Australia, but we reckon that the tarantula one is honestly close enough. If you’re not sure about how to make yourself a tarantula island, then you can check out this guide that we’ve prepared on how to create one and then make the most of it financially. Don’t have a copy yet of Animal Crossing: New Horizons? You can pick it up off Amazon here and also support Prima Games in the process, which is convenient. Once you’ve got your mitts on the game, you can hop on over with your other Island Representative to our dedicated guides hub where we’ve got a bunch of tips and tricks cornered:
