Things start off on a bit of a slower foot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom compared to Breath of the Wild. With a variety of new moves to learn, you’ll need to first learn how to manipulate the world around you before you can explore the world around you, particularly with the Paraglider. This item was given to you rather quickly in BOTW, but you’ll need to earn your keep in TotK if you’re looking to get creative. Let’s jump down into the world below to find out how to get our hands on this useful piece of kit.
How To Get The Paraglider in Tears Of The Kingdom
After completing the prologue in the Sky Island location, you’ll finally be able to visit the world below. Once you land safely in the waters below, you’ll need to head out to Lookout Landing, which is found at the yellow dot on your minimap. It’s a long walk, but it feels great to be in a familiar area once again. Take your time and head on over to this location. Once you arrive, you’ll be told you need to stop by Purah and you’ll be sent out once again on a new mission, Castle in Crisis.

You’ll need to head to the area marked on your minimap, but you may have a hard time locating the guard. After climbing around the main entrance, continue going up the spiraling hill until you see folks looking up to the top of the tower. You’ll find the Lookout Guard that you’re searching for up here, and you can either climb up the side or use the Ascend power to get up there faster.
Once you have arrived, you’ll want to speak to the gentleman on the left, who will be beyond shocked to see that you’re still alive and kicking. After viewing the cutscene, you’ll be ready to head back to Lookout Landing to speak to Purah once again, filling her in on what you discovered on this journey. If you’ve tried to open your map, you may have noticed that everything is greyed out. That’s why Purah has a plan, and you’re a big part of it.

Once you have arrived back at Lookout Landing, you’ll speak to Purah again. She has a plan involving the towers located around the map but no willing test subjects. That’s where you come into play. You’ll need to step into these massive towers and get shot into the sky to survey the lands around you. But once you go up, how do you get back down?
Simple! You’ll get the Paraglider before you launch off into the skies above. You’ll activate it while you’re in the air by pressing the X Button, much like you did in Breath of the Wild. After surveying the land, you can either rapidly descend back to the lands by pressing the R button, or pop open the Glider and see what lies before you, thanks to the improved draw distance. Thankfully, you don’t need to give it back either, you get to keep it for the rest of your journey. Now bust out those Amiibo and start claiming some free Glider skins for it.
