Invasions is a bit of a hybrid, offering you an expansive board of quests, different variables that keep the fights interesting, and plenty of unique characters that you can encounter. The Mortal Kombat 1 Story mode does a great job setting up the reason for these characters to exist, so you may appreciate this particular mode after playing through it. Plus, if you’re looking to unlock Havik, you’ll want to head into the Story Mode first and foremost.

As you continue making your way through the different Seasonal Maps, you’ll find yourself fighting against countless different enemies that all happen to look slightly familiar. While battling against these different foes, you can utilize different equipment like Talismans, which will give you a special attack that you can use with the Right Thumbstick to give you a leg-up in battle. Don’t worry, though, your opponents also have access to these items, alongside Super Armor which can only be broken with a well-timed hit, and more to help keep the battles feeling fresh. If you perform well enough, you may also be treated to a Secret Fight that will give you more items to add to your collection.

Invasions is a bit of a grind overall, but if you’re hoping to get your hands on plenty of customization options alongside character XP for your overall mastery level, it’s well worth your time and effort.
