What are Basemental Mods in The Sims 4?

Basemental mods are adult additions to The Sims 4. Since these are adult mods, a large amount of mature content is present that is not suitable for children. There are three main mod packs featured on the Basemental Mods site:

  • Basemental Alcohol: This mod adds alcohol to The Sims 4! Rather than having water, juice or bar drinks, this mod introduces working alcoholic beverages that have long-lasting effects on your characters.
  • Basemental Drugs: Like above, this mod adds various drugs and mood effects directly connected to your characters’ substance use. It also includes drug selling, addiction, rehab and other related features to highlight the negative consequences of substance abuse.
  • Basemental Gangs: This mod pushes the other two mods a step further by introducing gangs to the game. Not only can you join gangs, but you’ll also manage fellow members, rivalries and drug running. You even get your own headquarters!

These three mods interconnect and require certain packs to function. For example, while the Basemental Alcohol mod only requires the base game, the Drugs mod also needs the Universal Venue List. If you plan on going all out and want to download the Gang mod, you’ll need the official Sims 4 Get To Work expansion pack alongside the Drugs mod.

It’s important to emphasize that several of Basemental’s mods are not safe for young players or those who are sensitive to content related to drug use and gang activity. However, some options are available if you want to explore some of Basemental’s safer mods.

Basemental has two main universal mods, the Universal Venue List and Eco Hacks. The Universal Venue List mod adds information about each region in the game, including lot types and certain custom areas. The second mod, Eco Hacks, allows you to modify the eco conditions and footprint settings of areas in the game.

The Sims 4 is available to play on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 through the official website. Additionally, if you’d like to explore Basemental’s mod list, check out their website and Twitter page. To read more Sims 4 content, check out Where to Get Bits and Pieces and How to Write Songs.
