There are a few contenders for the best Amazon build in PoE 2’s Dawn of the Hunt season. I’ve seen really strong Lightning Spears, Tornados, and Rake builds, but none are as simple as the Gas Arrow build.
Heavily inspired by Fubgun’s leveling and progression build, the Gas Arrow scales incredibly well in the endgame. Here’s the best Amazon Gas Arrow build in PoE 2 Dawn of the Hunt.
Best Amazon Gas Arrow Build in PoE 2 Dawn of the Hunt

The Gas Arrow build playstyle revolves around kiting enemies and applying a poison cloud near the enemies to eventually detonate a massive explosion. Gas Arrow has three types of damage: the initial arrow hit, the poison cloud, and the explosion. Only the explosion damage matters here.
To trigger the explosion, you need to ignite something inside the poison cloud. If you follow our Amazon leveling guide, it also uses the Gas Arrow skill for leveling and uses a Flame Wall skill to trigger the explosion.
In this endgame guide, there is some tech that replaces the Flame Wall so you can focus more on shooting Gas Arrows.
The Amazon Gas Arrow build will play more like a ranger or a mercenary rather than a melee/ranged hybrid.
Gas Arrow Build Skill Gems
For the endgame Gas Arrow skill gems, you want the following skills and support gems:
- Gas Arrow – Immolate, Primal Armament, Martial Tempo, Concentrated Effect, and Charged Shots
- Herald of Thunder – Innervate, Longshot, Ambush, and Lightning Penetration
- Flame Wall – Arcane Tempo and Spell Cascade
- Wind Dancer – Cannibalism, Precision, and Clarity
- Orb of Storms – Font of Rage, Persistence, and Font of Mana
You can also use the Magnified Effect on the Gas Arrow (replace Concentrated Effect) to increase map clearing speed since it’ll have a broader reach. Herald of Thunder gives you more damage, and Wind Dancer with Clarity helps sustain your mana. Precision is also necessary, especially if you are going for Penetrate, which will be discussed later.
You might not have enough Spirit to get most of these buffs. You can remove Cannibalism and maybe get a little more life sustain through the passive skill tree when you can. Leech is always nice to have when running Waystones.
Flame Wall won’t be necessary once you get a specific helmet later. Orb of Storms gives you more damage, but you should lower its skill gem level, so the intelligence requirement isn’t too high.

Equipment and Stat Gearing

Death’s Harp is a unique Dualstring Bow that is perfect for both midgame and endgame versions of the Gas Arrow build. While it doesn’t have flat damage, it can fire four additional arrows with every bow attack. The Death’s Harp more than doubles your damage, but it can be pretty expensive.
Get accuracy runes for your weapon. You want to get at least a 100% chance to hit monsters and benefit from the Penetrate ascendancy node.
The Radiant Grief Lace Hood unique helmet offers major quality of life to the build. Since your damage is from the poison cloud ignite explosion, you want something to ignite enemies. The helmet does that without you casting a skill, turning the Gas Arrow build into a one-button build.
Apart from those unique items, you are mostly looking for as much flat damage as possible. You can get them on your quiver, rings, gloves, and amulet.
Try to get more critical strike chance, critical strike damage bonus, or damage with bow skills on your quiver. Your quiver should give you the most damage increase out of all the slots, excluding the bow.
Cap all your elemental resistances and get as many maximum life rolls as you can. Strength and Intelligence stats could also be needed, but they are (thankfully) easy to get. Maybe get one roll from the ring, belt, or body armor.
Movement speed on your boots is mandatory. Accuracy rating stats should also be welcomed but they’re not mandatory.
As for runes, you want some accuracy runes on your weapon and any defenses you are lacking on the others. If you are short on any elemental resistances, you can place a rune to compensate for that. If your resistances are good, try to increase your maximum life. You can use Iron Runes on your body armor to take advantage of the high evasion rating roll.
Amulet anointment – Stormcharged

Ascendancy and Passive Tree

Ascendancy points – Azmeri Brew, Critical Strike, Predatory Instinct, and Penetrate.
Here are the notable passive skills you should develop:
Primal Instinct | Escape Velocity | Maiming Strike | Enhanced Reflexes | Falcon Dive |
Eagle Eye | Cooked | Wrapped Quiver | Beastial Skin | Acceleration |
Mastery Fletching | Catalysis | Falcon Technique | Heartbreaking | Mindful Awareness |
Precision Salvo | Stand and Deliver | Near Sighted | Stuck Through | Moment of Truth |
Primal Sundering | Decisive Retreat | Proficiency | Heartstopping (if you need more int for your skill gems) | Crashing Wave |
You are mainly looking at the passive skill tree to get as many critical strike, accuracy, and movement speed nodes as possible.
There are only a few movement speed nodes, but they greatly help with the build. Don’t drop Acceleration, Step like Mist, or Escape Velocity for anything.
Falcon Technique grants 1% attack speed per 25 Dexterity. So, if you are min-maxing your stats, you want to be as close to the multiples of 25 Dexterity as possible to maximize the ASPD bonus.
Use dexterity on the small nodes. Don’t use intelligence nodes to level up skills like Orb of Storms. It isn’t worth it. It is also important to mention that Master Fletching increases your bonuses gained from your equipped quiver. You also have a notable Falcon Dive skill that increases your attack speed by 1% per 250 accuracy rating.
Keep track of these buffs, as getting an accuracy rating or dexterity affixes on your quiver could push the bonus up and get you even more stats through the combination of those notable passive skills mentioned.
You’ll also have a few jewel sockets available, so use jewels with critical strike chance or more flat damage stats to round up the build. Try to get jewel socket slots close to your passive skill pathing, like the one near Struck Through. Even if you aren’t getting any significant notable skills near it, you can quickly get a jewel socket for one passive skill point since it is just beside the Stuck Through cluster.
