The Amazon class in PoE 2’s Dawn of the Hunt patch is in a tricky spot since it has so many different variations — it’s almost impossible to settle on the best one. You’ll see Amazons using bows, crossbows, and spears with varying main skills.
So I’ve decided to share a strong leveling build with you instead. Here’s an easy Amazon build to follow that will take you to the endgame and could scale well enough to finish PoE 2 Dawn of the Hunt’s hardest content.

Melee and Ranged Hybrid Rake Leveling Setup

The Huntress’s skills are quite underwhelming at the start. You’ll try to get Rake fast, along with Disengage for AoE clearing and mobility.
You want to get a spear with high physical damage and try to get Iron Rings for more Phys. For the rest of your equipment, try to get life and resistance wherever you can.
Movement speed on boots also helps a lot, especially for the Huntress’ playstyle.
If you want to push for the Rake build, you want to support it with Stomping Ground eventually.
Stomping Ground works wonders for the Rake build, as it deals 100% to 150% of your strength as physical damage. You’ll want to take some strength passive nodes to scale the damage.
Eventually, you’ll want to add the Brutality support gem to buff the bleed damage, too.

You want to spec into Stalk and Leap (your playstyle should play off of this skill), Perfectly Placed Knife, Wasting, and Fast Acting Toxins. Buff your bleed effects as much as possible. Things will get a little tough, but you can get some Venopuncture rings from trade for some Exalted Orbs.
It could cost a little less or a little more, depending on if the ring becomes popular. It is a new unique item in Dawn of the Hunt, so there’s not much tech with it yet.
Use Disengage as your mobility skill and add Bloodhound’s Mark to help you against rares and bosses. You can also try to buy a Horns of Bynden unique for its early strength bonus and get the Rage tech for your build. It should be a massive damage boost in the campaign.
Ascendancy Order – Critical Strike and Predatory Instinct
Skill Overview
- Rake – Stomping Ground, Concentrated Effect, Brutality, and Rage
- Disengage – Martial Tempo
- Herald of Blood – Magnified Effect and Brutality
- Bloodhound’s Mark
- Blood Hunt – Bloodlust and Execute
Passive Skills Order
Precision Salvo, Escape Velocity, Acceleration, Maiming Strike, Javelin, Roll and Strike, and Precise Point.

Bow Lightning Arrow, Stormcaller, Gas Arrow Leveling Setup

While you start with a spear and skill for it, you can easily switch to a bow once you find one. You’ll use the Lightning Arrow once you find your bow, but in the meantime, you can use Rake or Thunder Spear until you find a bow.
Once you get to level 14 or 28, you can switch to using a Stormcaller Arrow or Gas Arrow, respectively. You’ll want flat elemental damage from your rings, bow, quiver, and gloves.
Being melee is tough, especially since the Amazon relies more on parries early on. It is not ideal, so most players go ranged and play it like a Mercenary or a Ranger.
When you switch, you want Freezing Salvo, which has excellent burst damage for elites and bosses. Use this on cooldown, even against clumped-up non-elites.

Your next switch (level 28) would be to the Gas Arrow and Flame Wall setup. Use Flame Wall to ignite enemies, and Gas Arrow should explode on impact. You’ll use this until the endgame. Make sure to use a Dualstring Bow for the extra arrow projectile. It starts dropping when you reach level 28.
This whole setup pushes you to the endgame. You’ll try to get more and more damage by getting a better Dualstring Bow with perfect 5-6 mods. The more flat damage, the better. The same goes for your rings and gloves.
Use Artificer’s Orbs on your good Dualstring Bow to add more flat damage through Rune slots. You’ll run into mana problems eventually, so try to get some Mana Regeneration, especially as a permanent bonus from one of the quests in the campaign.
Ascendancy Order – Predatory instinct > Azmeri brew > Critical Strike
Skill Overview
- Gas Arrow – Martial Tempo, Concentrated Effect, and Execute
- Flame Wall – Arcane Tempo
- Freezing Salvo – Hourglass, Close Combat, and Glaciation
- Herald of Thunder – Innervate and Lightning Infusion
- Voltaic Mark – Persistence
Passive Skills Order
Honed Instincts, Vile Wounds, Primal Sundering, Acceleration, Maiming Strike, Frazzled, Catalysis, Exploit, and Falcon Technique.
Best Leveling Tips for Your Amazon Build in PoE 2 Dawn of the Hunt

PoE 2’s campaign is long, tedious, and grueling, and it is harder than ever in Dawn of the Hunt. These leveling tips should help you progress through the campaign, and you can use these when leveling other builds as well.
- Pick up all items with quality and rune slots so you can disenchant them. Get all the Artificer’s Orb and Armourer Scraps so you can use them sparingly when you get or craft leveling gear.
- Don’t be afraid to use your gold to buy some gear. In some situations, you can get a massive power spike by just getting some good stats on items. For example, getting some flat elemental damage for elemental-based builds like the Gas Arrow should increase your damage by a lot.
- Don’t save long cooldowns as often. Freezing Salvo for the Gas Arrow build would be one of your strongest burst damage options with Hourglass and Glaciation.
- Pay attention to your surroundings. Using Disengage will help you get out of a sticky situation, but you’ll have to know where you can disengage. If you get stuck in a corner after using Disengage, enemies could surround you instantly.
- Try to get all permanent bonuses and passive skill points from the quest as quickly as possible. It saves you time by not going through it all over again in the endgame, and it gives you a power boost every time you get it.
- Don’t force yourself to finish the Trials for your ascendancy, especially for the Trials of the Sekhemas. The timing is usually off since you don’t have your power spikes yet.
The point of the leveling guide is to safely run you through the campaign. Once you get to the endgame, you can easily switch to any other build.
There are some trending builds emerging from the first set of buffs to the Huntress class, such as the Lightning Spear. The top contenders for the best Amazon build are the Tornado build from ds_lily, and the Lightning Spear builds from Jungroan or Fubgun. As always, these content creators discover the craziest and most broken builds every season, even with all the hiccups in Dawn of the Hunt.
