As you navigate Booster Tower in an attempt to rescue Princess Peach in Super Mario RPG, you’ll encounter an optional puzzle involving several portraits of Booster the Seventh. Here’s the Booster Family Portraits order in the Nintendo Switch remake and the reward you get for solving it.

Booster Tower Family Portraits Order in Super Mario RPG

When first entering Booster Tower, you’ll see a line of Booster portraits on the wall, sorted by age. This is the correct order that you’ll need for the Booster Family Portraits puzzle. The issue is that you’ll likely have forgotten how to solve the puzzle by the time you reach it. I know I did.

There are six portraits and a note on the wall to the left of them, telling you to put them in the correct age order. The correct order is as follows, from left to right:

  • 6.
  • 5.
  • 3.
  • 1.
  • 2.
  • 4.

As you select the correct portraits, they’ll rotate and show the letter “B.” Once all six “B” letters appear, you’ll receive the Elder Key, which opens up the locked door to the left, next to the note on the wall. Use the key on the door and head inside.

You’ll find a pretty powerful weapon for Bowser here: the Chain Chomp. It has a 118-attack stat.

Now that you’ve solved the Booster Tower Family Portraits puzzle and obtained the weapon reward, learn where to find The Legend of Zelda Link Easter Egg in Super Mario RPG.
