This Psychic classic from the early generations of Pokemon is definitely a coveted team member, both in the mainline games and here too, we’d wager. However, if you’re wanting to get a Shiny Alakazam, we’ve got some bad news to get out of the way first. Your Shiny Alakazam has to evolve from a Shiny Kadabra if you’re wanting it, and that in turn has to evolve from a Shiny Abra. You can’t encounter Shiny Kadabras or Shiny Alakazams in the wild. The only way to get to the final step in the Abra evolution train is, well, evolution itself. 

If you’re wondering how the hell you’re going to get a Shiny Abra, well, you’re actually in luck. The Abra Community Day is going to be upon us on March 15, which means that we’ll have an increased chance to nab ourselves a Shiny Abra that we can then evolve into the Shiny Alakazam of our dreams. There’s gonna be a 3-hour window where Trainers will be able to get triple EXP as well as 3-hour lures to up their chances with this elusive critter. Furthermore, if you turn your Abras into a Kadabras and then Alakazams during the event, said Alakazams are going to be able to learn a limited-time event move. Talk about super rare, especially if you’re gunning for possession of a Shiny one by the time that rolls around.
