Path of Exile 2: What To Do With the Mushrooms in Act 3

Double, double toil and trouble.

If you’ve found yourself with a pack full of mushrooms in Path of Exile 2 and have no idea what to do with them, you’re not alone. Once quest items have been picked up and stashed in your inventory, there is no way to get rid of them or hide them in your Stash. You will have no choice but to give the mushrooms to their rightful owner.

Where to Find the Mushrooms in Path of Exile 2

There are three mushrooms in Path of Exile 2 that are exclusive to one area in the game – the Apex of Filth. The Apex of Filth is an Act 3 area that you can access once you have drained the water that is blocking your way to the Drowned City.

Once you have cleared the water, you can explore the Drowned City. And while doing so, you will find the entrance to the Apex of Filth.

The three mushrooms are random drops from enemies you defeat in the Apex of Filth. As you clear the area, you will eventually collect one red mushroom, one green mushroom, and one blue mushroom.

Once you have these mushrooms in your bag, you will likely wonder where they came from and what you’re supposed to do with them. The three mushrooms take up seven tiles in your inventory that could be used to collect new gear or weapons, so your next step is to find out how to get rid of them.

Thankfully, you can get rid of the mushrooms in the same area, so you don’t have to lug them around for too long.

Continue exploring the perimeter of the Apex of Filth until you come across a set of steps leading to an open area with a large, bubbling cauldron at its center. Interact with the cauldron to drop all three mushrooms in there. Doing so will grant you high-level Life and Mana Flasks as a reward.

The quality and modifiers on these items are random, as most drops are in Path of Exile 2. But they are valuable rewards, so you can expect to receive magic or rare Flasks in return for completing the mushroom quest.

Behind the cauldron sits a Gentle Crone called the Cauldron Keeper. The Gentle Crone runs a shop that you can use to buy or sell items, specifically jewelry, staffs, and other spellcaster-type wares. This gives you a handy spot to sell off some unwanted armor or weapons without having to head back to your camp.
