When you get to the mid to endgame in Monster Hunter Wilds, you are most likely looking to buy traps, Tranq Bombs, and even Large Barrel Bombs to use consistently as your hunting items.
While they are craftable, is there a way to buy these traps and Tranq Bombs from a vendor so you can save time by avoiding a few extra steps or dialogues? Here’s the best way to get those traps and Tranq Bombs for your hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where to Buy Traps in Monster Hunter Wilds

Apart from getting random traps from random creatures and endemic life creatures, the only surefire way to get them is by crafting them. Since you cannot force those creatures to drop traps every time, it is better to be ready and craft them yourself when starting a hunt, hoping to capture the monster.
Since you cannot buy the traps outright, you can buy the Trap Tool from the Provisions Stockpile vendors in any base camp. The Trap Tool is the main ingredient in crafting various traps. You just need to combine it with a different resource to craft a specific trap. Here is a list of traps and the resources you need to craft them:
- Pitfall Trap – Trap Tool & New
- Shock Trap – Trap Tool & Thunderbug Capacitor
There are only two, but they are mostly used to capture monsters. Pitfall Traps capture large monsters while Shock Traps immobilize a target and capture them as well.

Where to Get Tranq Bombs in Monster Hunter Wilds

To get Tranq Bombs, you must craft them since they aren’t available in the shop. You need a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom to craft one and these are resources you find scattered around the world.
You can use Dot Esports’ interactive Monster Hunter Wilds map to look for these resources, but they are practically easy to find. You can even use the filter icons menu when you open the map to find the closest Sleep Herb or Parashoom so you can start stockpiling Tranq Bombs for future hunts.
These Tranq Bombs are often used to capture monsters. The main strategy is to use a Tranq Bomb to put the monster to sleep and place a trap on it. Since placing a trap can take some time and could be dangerous if the monster is still moving, it is best to put it to sleep before placing it.
