It has been nearly seven and a half years since the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game of the year winning, generation-defining action RPG from CD Projekt Red that released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One all the way back in May 19, 2015. The critically acclaimed installment in the Witcher series helped to propel the franchise into the forefront of the gaming consciousness and spawned a number of spinoff games, and the popular Netflix series, “The Witcher,” which first aired on December 20, 2019.
While Witcher fanatics have enjoyed the additional Witcher universe content, gamers can’t help, but pine for a chance to experience Geralt and Ciri’s award winning adventure on the latest generation of gaming consoles. So far, here is everything we know about the next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
What Does CD Projekt Red Say About the Release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2022?
Following earlier reports of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen remaster being delayed “indefinitely,” on the seven-year anniversary of its launch, on May 19, 2022, the official “The Witcher” Twitter account tweeted, “Let’s make this 7th anniversary even better, shall we? We’re delighted to share that the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is planned for release in Q4 2022. See you on the Path, witchers!”
While this was a welcome development to fans of the series, the fourth quarter of 2022 (October 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022) ultimately remains a vague placeholder instead of any actual release date for fans to mark their calendars.

Is the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-Gen Upgrade Still Coming out in Q4?
So far, we have received no updates to the status of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Q4 upgrade, but there have been unsubstantiated rumors about a potential December 9, 2022 release based on some retailer leaks. However, these have not been verified, so there is currently no use giving credence to the conjecture about a potential release date. Ultimately, based on all the information we currently have, or until the official spokespeople for the franchise say otherwise, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen remaster will arrive sometime between today and December 31, 2022.
