The lore of Mortal Kombat is confusing, to say the least. Throughout the years, countless characters have met their demise, and some have been brought back to life in a new form. As you enter the rebooted world of Mortal Kombat 1, you’ll find that a familiar name rings loud and clear from the get-go: Bi-Han has returned once again in the role of Sub Zero. But does that mean that Noob Saibot isn’t included in this particular version of the lore, or is he hiding in the shadows somewhere else?
Is Noob Saibot Playable In Mortal Kombat 1?
At this point, Noob Saibot is unavailable to play in Mortal Kombat 1. With Bi Han alive and well in this timeline, he has no canonical reason to be here. However, if you’ve played through the Story Mode, you’ll know that there are a few ways that he could appear.
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE FINAL CHAPTER OF MORTAL KOMBAT 1 BELOW
With this rebooted version of the Mortal Kombat lore, there are technically two Sub Zero’s: Bi Han as this timeline version of Sub Zero and Kuai Liang as the Scorpion of this dimension. Throughout the story, there are subtle hints that Noob Saibot may return in his original form, such as Bi Han delivering a blow that gives Kuai Liang his iconic facial scar that aligns with previous versions of Sub Zero, alongside Bi Han’s betrayal of the Shirai Ryu in his quest for ultimate power.
At the ending portions of the story, however, everything is thrown out of the window when it is revealed that there are multiverse versions of each of these particular characters, all able to join in the current timeline they are in. With Shang Tsung and Quan Chi opening the gates to these new realms, there are a few possibilities that could bring Noob Saibot back into this realm:
- A Multiverse Version of Bi Han where he has become Noob Saibot
- Bi Han dying and becoming Noob Saibot, with Kuai Liang taking on the Sub Zero moniker
- Everything story related goes out the window, and Noob Saibot is introduced in a Kombat Pack
