How to Unlock All Secret Jobs in Octopath Traveler 2

Secondary jobs are just an excuse to put everyone in funny hats

Octopath Traveler 2 is a game with a highly customizable party system and a vast, open world to explore. But you’ll need to search almost every corner of it in order to unlock the four secret jobs, which are some of the best in the game. Here’s how to unlock all secret jobs in Octopath Traveler 2.

How to Unlock All Secret Jobs in Octopath Traveler 2

Beyond the eight default jobs, there are four secret jobs. These jobs are some of the best in the game, with powerful skills that can make the fearsome bosses of mid- to late-game much more manageable. But obtaining them requires a combination of plot progression, boss-slaying, and walking.

Here’s how to get all four, but be warned: there are major spoilers ahead!

How to get the Inventor Secret Job in Octopath Traveler 2

The Inventor is the easiest Secret Job to get, as it doesn’t require much beyond showing up to a log cabin. To find it, you need to head to Eastern New Delsta High Road, then head to the top of the map. Follow the road until you’re in the top right corner of the map and you’ll see a log cabin.

Enter, and you’ll see a man surrounded by empty display cases. Speak to the man, who will introduce himself as Arkar. Arkar will grant you the Inventor License… but the skills of this class can’t be unlocked with Job Points. You’ll need to obtain certain materials to unlock them.

Fortunately, I’ve compiled the list of items Arkar needs and where to find them here.

How to get the Armsmaster Secret Job in Octopath Traveler 2

The second easiest secret job to obtain is the Armsmaster. This job is obtainable by making it to the city of Gravell in the Wildlands. This city is in the far north on the western continent, so expect the danger level to be high. Once you arrive in Gravell, you’ll see a debt collector pounding on the door of a building.

Knock out the debt collector, then enter to speak to Porta, the retired blacksmith. She’s the Armsmaster Guild Leader (a guild of one). But she won’t hand you the license until you bring her a Rusty Weapon. Rusty Weapons are scattered throughout the world and usually guarded by a mini-boss.

Fortunately, I’ve also compiled a list of all the Rusty Weapon locations here.

How to get the Conjurer Secret Job in Octopath Traveler 2

The Conjurer is the hardest Secret Job to obtain. It requires you to complete Hikari’s character arc, from Chapter 1 to 5, then challenge the Five-Tiered tower. The Five-Tiered Tower is located in the City of Ku, on the castle map on the right side.

Once in the Five-Tiered Tower, you’ll need to defeat five bosses. Fortunately, unlike Hikari’s final chapter, we get breaks between these bosses. The final boss you’ll have to defeat is the Conjurer herself… who is extremely difficult. She has 200,000 HP and is very capable of absolutely obliterating any team that takes her lightly.

Even the early bosses at the start of the tower are extremely powerful. The first boss has a mere 30,000 HP, but the second has 85,000 and is capable of doling out 2,000 damage attacks. And the bosses only get harder as you descend.

But once you’ve defeated her, you’ll gain Proof of the Conjurer and a chance to finally try out this Shinto Priest inspired class for yourself.

How to Get the Arcanist Secret Job in Octopath Traveler 2

The final Secret Job is the Arcanist. This class is only obtainable once you have Partitio and you complete the Scent of Commerce Quest in Tropu’hopu. There, you’ll pick up the Grand Terry for 100,000 leaves, giving you access to the wild waters that stretch between the two continents.

Sail towards the whirlpool between New Delsta and Tropu’hopu and you’ll encounter the Scourge of the Sea. The Scourge can be a very difficult boss, so check out this link if you’re struggling with it.

Once the Scourge is out of the way, head to the island to the northeast, which is distinctive because of the maze on top. Climb up the ladder to the maze then approach the first sign. Before you enter the maze itself, turn left, following the barely visible blue sparkle trail. You’ll “walk on air”, and you just need to follow this path all the way to the left to find the Arcanist.

Getting all of the secret jobs (and their associated skills) is no easy feat. But the Arcanist is one of the classes you’ll want to grab first, as its skill set can lead to some very broken and powerful set ups. Yes, it’s even stronger than the Conjurer. Here’s our full guide on how to get this class for yourself.
