How to Pressure Thunderclaw in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (& How to Stagger)

You’ll want to use Bio/Poison attacks against a Thunderclaw to Pressure it quickly in FF7 Rebirth as it’s the fiend’s weakness. Red XIII comes pre-equipped with Poison Materia right off of the bat, so feel free to swap it with an active Party Member before jumping into this battle if he’s not already in your team. If he isn’t, make sure that you remember to equip your Materia before engaging them in combat, as you’ll be timed if you’re going for a Fiend entry for Chadley.

The easiest way to Stagger a Thunderclaw is to Pressure it with Bio/Poison, then attack it with all your might once the ‘Pressured’ bar appears. As you attack, the bar will slowly fill up. Once it’s full, the Thunderclaw will Stagger.

You can see exactly how to Pressure and Stagger a Thunderclaw in FF7 Rebirth in my video below:

After you’ve tracked down and initiated combat with a Thunderclaw, I strongly recommend that you use your Assess Materia on one of these electrifying canines to find out what their strengths and weaknesses are. It also counts toward the 16 Grasslands enemies you need to Assess for Biological Intel: Blinded By Light.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll discover that they’re weak against nothing. They’re completely immune to a few different types of attack and have no listed Weaknesses. That’s why the Poison Materia works so well against them in this instance. Keeping Bio/Poison on your Party at all times will help ensure that these battles won’t need to go on any longer than anticipated, even if you’re using the Dynamic Difficulty option.

Keep your ATB up and ready for action, especially if you’re hoping to take out both of these creatures within the two-minute timeframe. Once you’ve completed it, feel free to keep Bio/Poison on your character if you switched it out or give it back to Red XIII.

How to Complete Fiend Intel 6: Voltaic Canine in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

To fully complete Fiend Intel 6: Voltaic Canine in FF7 Rebirth, you’ll need to do the following objectives:

  • Pressure Thunderclaw.
  • Stagger Thunderclaw.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

Defeating the Thunderclaw is one of the steps you need to unlock the Grasslands Battle Intel: Plains Stalkers in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. To gain access to it, you’ll also need to defeat a Mandrake, which appears in the Grasslands Fiend Intel 3: Wailing Weed.
