How to Pause in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty

Need a break?

For some reason, souls-like games will sometimes go without the option to pause the game, even though many players go offline or have no interest in the multiplayer component. However, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty does have an option to pause the game, even if it’s an odd way to do it.

If you attempt to pause like any other game, you’ll get the same kind of menu that you would see in something like Dark Souls. The main menu is up but the game is still running behind it, which means you can still be attacked at any moment. To make sure you can pause at any moment in Wo Long, we’ll cover exactly how you can pause and take the break you need.

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty – How to Pause the Game

Only two simple steps are needed to pause the game at any time. The first step is to open up the character menu, or the main menu with most of the game options. On a controller, this can be done by hitting the Start/Options button. For the keyboard and mouse, the escape key will open up the character menu.

Once you’re in the main menus of Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, you only need one more button which is displayed at the bottom of the screen. On controllers, pushing the touchpad on PlayStation or the View button on Xbox will pause the game. Mouse and Keyboard users can hit the G key for the same effect.

This is likely to keep you from abusing the menus for consumables in the middle of a fight and is also why other souls-likes don’t have a pause screen. However, Wo Long seems to have found the best middle ground.
