How to Get Void Shards in The First Descendant

Looks like you'll be needing some friends here.

The First Descendant has one often overlooked mechanic, which is Void Missions. These Void Missions are scattered all over the map, but you aren’t really taught to finish them or know what they do once you go through the main quests. To finish them, you’ll need Void Shards. Here’s how to get Void Shards in The First Descendant.

Where to Get Void Shards in The First Descendant

If you have seen a Void Fusion Reactor randomly around the world, you might wonder why you can’t interact with it. This is because you need Void Shards to activate them. To get Void Shards, you need to look for “Void Fragment” Void Missions around the world.

Completing them will give you all kinds of Void Shards. After finishing a Void Fragment Void Mission, there is a reset or a cooldown before you can finish it again, but it is still quite fast. Since there are different types of Void Shards, Void Missions will also require different sets of Void Shards to start.

Go to your inventory or consumables tab and go to the Miscellaneous tab. You will see all the types of Void Shards you currently have in your inventory here.

It is also worth noting that each Void Fragment Void Mission needs a specific element to start. For example, the Void Fragment in the Sterile Land needs “Chill” to destroy the Void Fragment. The starter Descendant, Viessa, is perfect for the job. However, some require other elements from different Descendants. You might need to unlock new Descendants or befriend other players who can open it.

What Are Void Shards Used For?

As mentioned before, the Void Shards are used to start Void Missions. If you hover over a specific Void Mission, you’ll see the types of Void Shards needed to start the mission, including the quantity. In the image above, the Void Fusion Reactor – Agna Desert Miragestone Deposit requires 12 Monomer Void Shard and 3 Polymer Void Shard.

Each Void Fragment Void Mission only drops 4-6 Void Shards, so stocking up on them will be difficult. However, these rewards are amazing because you can get Transcendent rarity Modules for your Descendants… if you are lucky enough. You can see its absurd drop rate in the image above, which is at a 1.6% acquisition chance.

Nevertheless, these Modules are one of many ways to improve your character. You can farm Ultimate Weapons or boost your Mastery Rank in the meantime.
