How To Get the Stun Lance and Baton in Helldivers 2

Positively Stunning!

Arrowhead Game Studios has finally added melee weapons to Helldivers 2 in the form of the Stun Lance and the Stun Baton. Both of these weapons occupy the secondary slot replacing the usual pistol or SMG, and can be quite useful against certain enemy types and situations. Here is how you can unlock the Stun Lance and Baton in Helldivers 2 and add them to your arsenal.

Unlock the Stun Lance in Helldivers 2

The CQC-19 Stun Lance is only available through the Urban Legends Premium Warbond. Once you have purchased the Warbond, the Stun Lance can be unlocked with 30 Warbond Medals.

Once unlocked, it can be equipped as a secondary weapon. The Stun Lance has a thrusting motion and can be used to push back enemies while stunning and damaging them at the same time. It is equipped in one hand and penetrates light armor with a very small recoil of 8. It’s particularly useful against the Illuminate, and can be paired with the SH-51 Directional Shield, which is also unlocked in the Urban Legends warbond.

Unlock the Stun Baton in Helldivers 2

The Stun Baton is a melee weapon that can only be purchased in the rotating Superstore for 200 Super Credits, which are roughly $2. Unlike the Stun Lance, the Baton can’t be acquired at any time and has to be part of an ongoing rotation in the Superstore.

This means that the only time players can acquire this melee weapon is when it’s active in the store, which is a bit disappointing considering this is an actual weapon rather than an armor set.

Unlike the Lance, the Baton has a swinging motion, which pushes back enemies while stunning them as well. It doesn’t do a lot of outright damage, but the stun effect allows players to do repeated damage thanks to its fast swings that can eventually take out elites and give players some breathing room too. It also pairs with the SH-51 Directional Shield for a deadly melee combo that also has some boasts some defense.

Stun Lance and Stun Baton – Which Is Better?

Both the Stun Lance and Stun Baton have their uses and are effective. The Stun Lance can be used from a distance, while the Baton has to be used up close. The Lance consumes less Stamina because of its thrusting motion, while the Baton has faster swings that use up a bit more of the Stamina bar.

Both weapons apply a stun, but the Baton is faster thanks to the swinging motion. However, it also forces you to close the distance, which adds a bit more risk, while the Lance can be comfortably used from a distance.

If you have heavy armor equipped, the Baton can be really helpful, but if you like having some distance and greater control over the combat encounter, the Lance is the way to go. Neither weapon is outright bad, or useless and are great addition to Helldivers 2.

Melee Weapons aren’t the only additions in the new Omens of Tyranny update, but Warships to destroy and Fast Recon Vehicles to drive.
