Evolving Sylveon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

To evolve Sylveon, you need an Eevee obviously. If you don’t have one, head on over to our How to Get Eevee in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet guide first for everything you need to know.

With an Eevee in hand, there are two requirements that you must meet in order to evolve it into Sylveon:

  • Build a high friendship level with Eevee.
  • Teach it a Fairy-type move.

How to Build High Friendship Level With Eevee

There are two ways to build the friendship level with a Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. The first is by taking it on a Picnic and playing with it, grooming it, and feeding it sandwiches.

Alternatively, you can feed it certain types of Berries that you pick up across the Paldea region. Note that they’ll decrease a stat though, so it’s up to you whether you want to use them. Or you can do a mixture of Picnics and Berries.

How to Teach Eevee a Fairy-Type Move

Teaching Eevee a Fairy-type move is actually incredibly easy because it automatically learns Baby Doll Eyes, a Fairy-type move, at level 15. If you rejected the move or caught one that’s over level 15 that didn’t have it in its move pool, don’t worry!

To have the Pokemon relearn the move, go to the Moves and Stats page in its Summary, press the A button, and select “Remember moves.” Then just pick Baby Doll Eyes, choose a move to replace, and there you go.

With your Eevee ready to evolve, all you need to do is level it up by one, either by using Candy or battling and catching wild Pokemon. Once it has leveled up, the evolution will automatically trigger if executed correctly.

Remember to make sure your Eevee knows a Fairy-type move, otherwise it will evolve into Espeon or Umbreon depending on the time of day and you’ll have to go and catch another and repeat the process all over again.

How to Catch Sylveon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

If you don’t want to evolve a Sylveon, you can catch one in the wild. It’s level 50 and a Terastal Pokemon though so you’ll need to make sure you’re well-equipped before taking it on.

You can find the wild Sylveon to the right of the Team Star Fairy Crew Base in North Province (Area Three).

Enjoy your new Fairy-type cutie!
