While SSDs are rare drops in Escape from Tarkov, you’ll be surprised they are quite common if you know where to look. Obviously, it won’t be as easy to find as Light Bulbs and Capacitors, but you’ll get a decent number of SSDs if you hit the right spots. Here’s the best way to find SSDs and their use in Escape from Tarkov.
Where to Get SSDs in Escape from Tarkov

SSDs are classified as “info” items but are also found in some electronic spawns, such as PC blocks. However, you won’t find them as loose loot (overworld drop). They can also be found in sports bags, jackets, safes, and anything that can spawn random items like dead bodies, secret stashes, buried caches, and more.
If you want to look for SSDs, there are three main ways to farm them strictly.
Interchange – PC Blocks in Offices

Interchange is the best place to get your electronic items. It is also the best place to get GPUs because of the loose tech spawns and PC Blocks. However, SSDs are more common in PC Blocks than anything else, and Interchange has many. The two offices in Goshan, the office inside IDEA, and the offices in OLI give you roughly 18-26 PC blocks to loot on average.
It is doubtful you’ll hit all the spots without them being looted or encountering a PMC, but you only need to loot a few. There are random PC Blocks, too, like the information desks and the power station. Sports Bags and Jackets are also scattered around Interchange, making it the best place to find SSDs.
There are times when there are so many PMCs in Interchange, but most of them would probably be hunting Killa and trying to get out as fast as possible when Killa doesn’t spawn. If you are unfamiliar with Interchange, you can try the others.

Customs – Jackets and Safes in Dorms

The Customs dorms is an underrated loot spot in the game. Maybe it is because people avoid this area. After all, they don’t want to fight. Several quests are done inside the dorm area, including ones that force them to eliminate other PMCs. But, if you get the best spawn near Dorms, you can take over and start looting all the jackets and safes. All the keys are relatively cheap and quite easy to find.
All you need to do is memorize these room numbers to loot quickly and efficiently.
Three-story dorms:
- Rooms 101, 104, 105, 117 ( cabinets), 202, 204 (need key and safe), 205, 206, 214 (need key and safe), 220 (need key), 221, and 301.
Two-story dorms:
Rooms 104 (need key),105 (need key and safe), 108, 110 (need key), 114 (need key), 201 (cabinets), 202 (jackets), 204 (cabinets), shower room (jackets), and 211 (jackets).
There are so many jackets, safes, and cabinets that you’ll surely fill up your backpack in no time.
Shoreline – Jackets in the Village
Like in Customs, Shoreline’s Village has tons of jackets. There’s also a mix of technical loot inside, which can help you get more money.
Looting each house will take some time, but it is easy to get used to. While players less frequently visit the village than dorms, your main problem is that you are a sitting duck when you are spotted or heard from outside. In dorms, you have many options since you can jump out of windows to escape.
It is a pick-your-poison decision, but hopefully, you’ll get some SSDs and awesome keys.
What Are SSDs Used For in Escape from Tarkov?

While you only need one SSD for your hideout (security level 3), the main use of SSDs is sacrificing them in the Cultist Circle. The Cultist Circle is very mysterious, but there are a few “proven” recipes that can help you get what you need. The most common ones are SSDs and SAS Drives because their value pushes the value threshold of the sacrifice, giving you a decent chance of finding something amazing.
These SSDs and SAS Drives become expensive because players always buy them in the flea market and sacrifice them to get items. These items come with the “found in raid” tag, which helps players get extremely rare items through the Cultist Circle.
The most commonly sought-after items are the Virtex Processor and the LEDX to finish their quests. Players will continuously sacrifice SSDs and SAS Drives until they get one of these, which is still rare, but at least there is a chance.
You can make a fortune farming these SSDs, and I suggest going for Interchange so you can at least find some LEDX, Defibrillators, GPUs, and Tetriz if you go through the tech stores and ULTRA and EMERCOM medical units.
