You’ll actually be able to gather Rusty Metal right from the start of your journey in Bird’s Eye Brae. Check all the nooks and crannies around your village for the several mining nodes scattered around for a chance to collect Rusty Metal, among other materials. Make sure to visit the Small Field, a tiny zone connected to your farm, for some extra nodes to harvest.

Even mining nodes in the later hostile zones, like Njord Steppe and Higan Canyon, can contain Rusty Metal, so you shouldn’t have any trouble filling your bags up with it. When farming, make sure to visit all the mining nodes you can once per day, as they only refresh at the start of a new day.

Additionally, you may even find Rusty Metal inside treasure chests, specifically in the Higan Canyon zone. Harvestella’s an RPG, after all, so you’d better seek out and open every treasure chest you can find. That’s just role-playing game 101.
