Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Greatsword of Solitude Location

The Greatsword of Solitude is obtained by defeating the Blackgaol Knight in the Western Nameless Mausoleum.

It’s a straight path from the first site of grace in the Gravesite Plains.

You can avoid fighting the birds on the way, and there’s a Stake of Marika outside the boss fight, so you don’t need to keep traveling from the site of grace. The Blackgaol Knight is a pretty tough fight, but it shouldn’t take most players more than a few tries to learn his moveset.

This weapon has excellent scaling with Strength, and it’s easily one of the best weapons in the entire expansion, and possibly the base game as well. It does incredible physical damage and the Solitary Moon Slash has great range and damage potential. It also pairs very well with the Solitude Set, which you can obtain from the same boss.

It’s also one of the earlier weapons you can get, and we recommend strength users focus their efforts on obtaining it.

Players who aren’t enamored by greatswords can set their sights on the Great Katana or Beast Claw instead. For more on Shadow of the Erdtree, make sure to follow our dedicated section.
