How to Get Amethyst in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7)

Better gems for better gear

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is full of materials to collect as you explore each new region, and if you want to start transmuting higher-level gear, you need to find Amethyst. This guide will explain where you can get it and what it’s used for.

You can find Amethyst by collecting materials in the Corel Region and the Gongaga Region. Any time you find rocks with a marker on the ground, there is a chance for it to be stone or gem-based materials. In the second section of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, those rock-based materials include Zinc, Gold Dust, and Amethyst if you get lucky. To start stacking up on the purple gem, I recommend exploring the northern section of Corel as soon as you finish Chapter 6.

Outside of picking up materials scattered in the open world, Amethyst can still be collected by searching containers and defeating enemies. As long as you are defeating smaller fiends within Corel or Gongaga, there is a chance for materials outside of the beast bone to appear, and they are always tied to the current region. So don’t expect to fight enemies in the Grasslands and find Amethyst as a reward for each victory.

Once you get your hands on Amethyst in FF7 Rebirth, you can start using it in the Item Transmuter that you unlock at the start of the game. You must be around Craftsmanship Level 7 to craft any recipes tied to Corel and Gongaga. If you’re already at that level, then you can expect items in the Armor and Accessories categories to need Amethyst. Most of the time you will need ten pieces for a single recipe, but the requirement can vary as you get higher up.

While you’re in Corel, make sure to hunt down Bladefin for some extra rewards.
