If you’re anything like me, you’re eager to get into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign. However, if you’re also like me, your pre-order isn’t unlocking Early Access as it should be, and there are multiple reasons as to why.

Why Can’t I Launch the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign?

If you’re struggling to get access to the campaign portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, you’re not alone. It looks like some severe Activision issues are happening on the backend, so be sure you know how to check the server status here. Since the newest Call of Duty is using the same launcher as MW2, DMZ, and Warzone, they’ll all be running in the same within the same hub.

Some players can access the campaign with no issues, and if that’s the case, do not back out. If you return to the menu for any reason, you’ll likely lose access to the campaign until a hotfix is deployed. At least for the time being, do not return to the main menu for any reason until the fix has been sent out.

If you can’t access the campaign at all, there are a few steps that you can take to try and access it. First, you can exit out of the game fully and try to sign back in. If you no longer see the Pre-Order for Early Access, you’re golden and ready to jump into the newest Call of Duty campaign. If you still see the dreaded Pre-Order option, then you’ll want to try the next few steps.

Be sure to check your internet connection and make sure that you’re properly on the network. If you can, plug in an ethernet cord and see if that may help you get a more solid connection to your console or PC. This may not fix it either, so you’ll just need to wait patiently until Activision gets everything sorted out.

While we could also recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the game, this is likely not going to fix your issue. Take it from first-hand experience, there is nothing worse than the FOMO of missing out on the newest campaign while you wait for a 200+ GB download to go through your system. Even after doing this, I’m personally still not able to access the campaign.

At this point, the best bit of tech support we can offer is to be patient while these fixes start to be deployed. While it may not be the most exciting thing to do, you could pass the time by checking out our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 section below to learn about why slide canceling is back, alongside how to do it properly and learn more about what is waiting for you on the battlefield.
