How to Find the Black Marketeer in Palworld

As you fill your base and Palbox full of adorable beasties, you might feel like it’s time to trim the ranks. Or perhaps you’re just looking for a Pal that’s a little hard to come by. Either way, the Black Marketeer has you covered. And what’s worth noting is that there are seven Black Markeeters. So, if one doesn’t have the wares you want, you can always visit one of the identical quintuplets.

LocationDirections
Abandoned MineshaftThe earliest Black Marketeer can be found near the Desolate Church waypoint. Head down the cliff going west from the waypoint, then head beneath the overhang.
Secret MineshaftFrom the PIDF Tower Entrance waypoint, found in the desert island to the top right, jump down the cliff. The mineshaft entrance will be under the overhang.
Duneshelter Outside of Duneshelter’s walls, the Black Marketeer can be found on the back right corner at night.
Cove MineshaftFrom the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant waypoint, head west into the cove. Where the water meets the land you’ll find the entrance.
Eastern Wild IslandWest of the Eastern Wild Island waypoint, head over the water towards a recessed cave. Incredibly easy to find in the dark.
Fort Ruins From the Fort Ruins waypoint, head northwest following the trail. The Black Marketeer will be north along the hill.
Mount Obsidian City RuinsFrom the Ruined Fortress City waypoint, jump down into the courtyard and head towards the river. Once you find the broken bridge, turn left and head southwest. Does not always spawn.
Mount Obsidian Beach Just south of the Beach of Everlasting Summery waypoint. Alternatively, follow the the southern beach of Mount Obsidian all the way west. Once you reach the point where the beach ends, you’ll find the final Black Marketeer.

Abandoned Mineshaft Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

This masked man is hidden in the depths of the Abandoned Mine, immediately West of the Desolate Church waypoint.

Once you’ve spawned into this waypoint, just head west and jump down the cliff. You’ll find that the Abandoned Mineshaft is hidden beneath a rocky overhang and that Pal Spheres litter the ground going towards the Abandoned Mineshaft entrance.

There’s even a small Pal Soul. But never mind that. Just head inside, and you’ll find the Black Marketeer, who trades in “contraband.” Contraband being, of course, Pals. He’ll buy and sell Pals for gold, and the rarer and higher level your Pal, the more you’ll get for it. Of course… it’s unlikely that the Black Marketeer has benevolent plans for the Pal you sell off. His chamber is full of guillotines and not much else.

But if you’re really just in the market for Pals, he’s the best place to go for your hard-earned gold.

Secret Mineshaft Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

So, you’ve found the first Black Marketeer and he doesn’t have anything you want. But rather than wait a full day cycle, why not visit his brothers?

To find the second Black Marketeer, you need to go to the very North part of the map, past the Dessicated Desert. You’ll see a tower at the top of the icy mountain. It’s a good idea to get this waypoint (called PIDF Tower Entrance), as it will let you easily visit the Black Merchant here.

Note, you’ll need Heat-resistant armor during the day and Cold-Resistant armor during the night in this location.

Either way, head to the coordinates 496, 340, west of the PIDF Tower Entrance waypoint. The Black Marketeer here is hiding in the Secret Mineshaft, where you can find him hawking wares. I found that the Pals weren’t notably different from those he offered near the Desolate Church, though on the second visit, he did offer me a Pal that cost 20k gold.

Duneshelter Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

The third Black Marketeer is even more conveniently located. He’s outside of the abandoned city Duneshelter, at the coordinates 345, 364. Once you’ve made it to Duneshelter, don’t go into the ruined city. Instead, head right and follow the outer wall. There, you’ll find the last Black Marketeer. Just like his brothers, he’s not offering anything particularly unique or rare. But if you’re hunting for a specific Pal, you can cycle through all three until that coveted Pal appears.

Worth noting is that this particular Black Marketeer isn’t always there. If he’s not appearing, try again tomorrow.

Cove Mineshaft Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

Our next Black Marketeer can be found on the large central island. Head towards the northern waypoint, Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant, and jump down towards the water.

Alternatively, follow the water as it flows inward and you’ll hit a beach. On this beach will be the Cove Mineshaft. Like with all Mineshafts, it’s easiest to find in the dark when the torches make it very obvious.

Eastern Wild Island Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

The next Black Marketeer can be found on Eastern Wild Island, to the far east of the map. Once you arrive at the waypoint, head west and jump over the water in the island’s middle. Once you’ve done that,

Fort Ruins Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

This Black Marketeer can be found extremely early on but is easy to miss. From the starting island, head to the Fort Ruins waypoint at the top of the island.

From here, follow the trail west until it hits its most northern crest. Go off the trail and look for the Black Marketeer along one of the green ridges.

Eastern Wild Island Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

To get to this Black Marketeer, head to the Eastern Wild Island waypoint. You can find Eastern Wild Island by looking at the far right of the map. If you die, it has a potential respawn point right on this island. Once you’re at the waypoint, follow the path south, then west.

Jump down the small cliff and keep going west and you’ll find the Black Marketeer in a cave recessed into the cliff wall. He’s very easy to find during the night, as his cave is very lit up. But during the day he can blend into his surroundings.

This Black Marketeer is also a great one to farm gold with, so long as you’re at least level 4.

Mount Obsidian Beach Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

So, we’ve got our starter Black Marketeer, our mid-game Black Marketeers, and now our late-game Black Marketeers. And they’re both located in one place: Mount Obsidian. One in the north and one in the south.

The Southern Black Marketeer, marked above, is the easiest of the two to locate as it doesn’t require you to brave the magma rivers and high-level Pals.

The southern Black Marketeer is just south of the Beach of Everlasting Summery waypoint. However, it’s much easier to find him by going from the Seabreeze Archipelago Island and following the southern beach of Mount Obsidian all the way west. Once you reach the point where the beach ends, you’ll find the final Black Marketeer.

Mount Obsidian Fortress Ruins Black Marketeer Location in Palworld

For the North Black Marketeer, use the Ruined Fortress City waypoint. Jump down into the courtyard and head towards the river. Once you find the broken bridge, turn left and head southwest.

There’s a chance that the Black Marketeer will be there, though has been the rarest spawn point for me. There is no guarantee he’ll be there when you visit. And his wares, just like brothers, will be around the same level and rarity.

When Does the Black Marketeer Restock in Palworlds? – Answered

The Black Marketeer seems to work on a proximity restock system. Which is to say, he won’t restock his ware if you just stand in the chamber and wait for them to change. You’ll have to leave the area, either by the waypoint or by going a fair distance and checking back a day later to see what new goods he has in store.

Pals that I’ve seen for sale are:

  • Killamari – 3,420 Gold
  • Galeclaw – 6,030 Gold (has also been listed at 5,427 and 5,125 Gold)
  • Robinquil – 4,612 Gold
  • Relaxaurus – 29,184 Gold
  • Jolthog Cryst – 3,049 Gold
  • Nox – 4,440 Gold
  • Ribbunny – 2,958 Gold
  • Chillet – 10,350 Gold
  • Dumund – 11,959 Gold
  • Robinquill – 6,150 Gold
  • Vaelet – 5,586 Gold
  • Incineram – 11,472 Gold
  • Beegrade – 4,794 Gold

As you can see, the Black Marketeer isn’t beyond marking those Pals way up once they’re sold. But he sells a variety of Pals, both rare and common, with their prices varying based on their stats and rarity. And if you’re trying to fill out that Paldeck, he’s a good man to know.

Can You Catch the Black Marketeer in Palworld?

If you were hoping to befriend the Black Marketeer and add him to your growing collection of Pals, or otherwise kindly force him into servitude, we’re happy to report that you can! It’s no easy task as he’s level 40, and he’ll immediately pull out a Gatling gun and sic his Cawgnito on you. But if you can get him to stay put in a Pal Sphere, you can add him to your Base for an extra pair of hands and a friendly face to talk to.

Palworld screenshot of the black marketeer at a player's base

If you add the Black Marketeer to your base, he’ll have a +1 in Handiwork, meaning he might help you craft items on occasion. But more importantly, you’ll be able to continue talking to the Black Marketeer and trade Pals with him. This will save you a trip whenever you want to declutter your Palbox or quickly need a new Pal.

Catching the Black Marketeer won’t cause a new one to respawn in his old location, but his relocation will likely be more convenient. He’ll also reward with you two Golden Keys and 29,000 Gold upon his successful capture.

Should you decide to kill the Black Marketeer instead, he’ll drop the same rewards. After some time, he’ll respawn, and you’ll be able to continue talking and trading with him as if your scuffle never happened.

How to Do the Black Marketeer Gold Farming Exploit

You can do the Black Marketeer gold farming exploit with the use of a hanging trap. This exploit allows you to kill the Black Marketeer over and over, netting you as much gold as you want. To start with, you’ll need to make a hanging trap, which costs 10x Wood and 5x Stone. It unlocks at level 4 in the Technology tree and can be found in the Defense tab within the Build Menu. Here are the steps below.

  1. Make the Hanging Trap.
  2.  Place the Hanging Trap right by the Black Marketeer.
  3.  As soon as the trap ensnares the Black Marketeer, attack him.
  4.  Immediately afterward, put a campfire below him.
  5.  Once the Black Marketeer is dead, destroy your Hanging Trap.
  6.  Finally, either return back to the title screen or fast-travel to respawn him.
  7.  Repeat the process.

If you want to try to catch Palworld’s Black Marketeer for yourself, you’ll want to prepare yourself. He won’t go without a fight, and he sure knows how to use that big gun of his. So, make sure that you’re appropriately leveled and have a good arsenal on you.
