The Scars of War Artifacts in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – Exact Locations

Junon is a shadow of its former glory, but in its wreckage, you can find no shortage of buried treasure. However, you’ll first need to unlock Castaway Lifespring to unlock this Excavation Intel quest.

Castaway Lifespring is located on a small island south of the Batteryhill Tower. You can reach it by swimming from the Cargo Shipwreck cache or by following the ship west of Prospect Tower. Once you unlock it, Chadley will inform you that he senses Item Transmutation Recipes in the Scars of War.

Once you arrive at the site, there are three artifacts to uncover. To find them, get on your Chocobo and press the Up button on the D-Pad when a question mark appears above its head. Pivot your camera with the right joystick until a blue line appears, extending from your Chocobo to the buried treasure. Once you find the treasure, press the down button over top of it to have your Chocobo dig it up.

The first artifact is just in the door, almost immediately to the right of the yellow map icon. The first Artifact will provide the following recipes:

  • Psychic’s Charm – A charm once carried by an enigmatic figure said to have been hailed as a great sage before their fall from grace. Increases max MP and magic power by 5%. Grants immunity to Silence.
  • Planet’s Favor – An unspoiled embodiment of the planet’s grace. Used in item crafting.

The second artifact will require you to go further east, towards the ocean. There, tucked into the rock indentation, will be the next treasure. The second Artifact will provide the following recipes:

  • Armor Upgrade 3.
    • Enhanced Gold Coral Armlet – A refined variant of the gold coral armlet. +14 defense, +14 magic defense.
    • Enhanced Sailor’s Bracer – A souped-up version of the original sailor’s bracer. +18 defense, +18 magic defense.

The third artifact is very close to the second. Head a little south, then turn right after you’ve passed the rock. Here, you’ll find the third artifact. And, of course, the last one is always best. The third artifact will provide the following recipes:

  • Armor Upgrade 4.
    • Enhanced Elphadunk Bangle – A souped-up version of the original Elphadunk bangle. +29 defense, +14 magic defense.
    • Enhanced Wisefox Bangle – A souped-up version of the original Wisefox bracelet. +14 defense, +29 magic defense.

To get your standard Elphadunk and Wisefox Bangle, just head to your local item vending machine. But to make your Psychic’s Charm, you’ll need a Mindflayer Crown. Of course, there’s an octopus-faced creep amongst those broken ships.
