How to Dodge and Evade in the Diablo 4

Dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge!

Skills are always the most exciting part of combat in any Diablo game, but you cannot forget the importance of the evade action within Diablo 4. Mixed with dodge chances, evasion can save you in the worst situations, and using it wisely can open up space in a fight when you need it most.

If you skipped the tutorials in the game, or you have not gone through the first story dungeon yet, it can be easy to get lost in all the controls. To get you back on track with all your base actions such as evade, our guide will outline the controls and how ability works in the game.

Diablo IV – How to Evade and Utilize Dodge

For starters, the evade action is set to its own button and is an action that any character within any class can use. By default, players can evade by tapping Circle/B on a controller, or the spacebar on a keyboard and mouse. These can be changed in the control settings if you do not like the default.

The evade action itself has a cooldown of five seconds that you can see in the bottom left corner of the screen, which is marked by a boot symbol. With the cooldown in place, you will not be able to spam evasion whenever you want in Diablo 4, so utilizing movement speed or other abilities is integral to survival.

There is another stat in the game that is labeled as dodge chance and is part of the defensive stats in Diablo 4. You will notice that when enemies attack you and a hit appears to land, a large “dodge” will appear above your character. This is a separate stat that can be increased which allows for passive evasion. However, it is not the same as the actual move.
