How to Cure Burning in Monster Hunter Wilds

Stop, drop, and roll!

Monster Hunter Wilds has several debuffs or status effects that can harm you during fights. One of the earliest encounters already teaches you one of these status effects, Fireblight. The Fireblight debuff acts like a burn where a player is set on fire and gradually takes damage.

There’s a trick to removing the burning effect without using consumables. In this guide, we’ll show you how to remove the Fireblight with and without using consumables in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to Cure the Fireblight Status Effect in Monster Hunter Wilds

To cure the Fireblight or burning status effect, you must do the following:

  • Run or roll through water once.
  • Roll two or more times.
  • Use a Nulberry.

One of your earliest encounters with the Fireblight status effect will come from the Quematrice monster fight. Quematrice uses a couple of fire attacks that inflict Fireblight. When hit, you’ll surely get the Fireblight status, where you must roll a few times to extinguish the fire.

Using a Nulberry is not advisable early as Nulberries are useful in other fights. Since Nulberries cure any elemental blights, such as Waterblight, Iceblight, Thunderblight, and more, there could be more difficult encounters in the future that may need some Nulberries.

Rolling to dispel or cure the Fireblight isn’t actually taught in the game, but the mechanic has been around since the 3rd generation of the Monster Hunter games.

How Do You Know If You Have Fireblight in Monster Hunter Wilds?

With so many debuffs or status effects in the Monster Hunter Wilds and so many displays or tooltips being shown on the screen, it is hard to know if you have a status effect, especially if you are new to the series.

One way of knowing you have Fireblight is that it should cause your health bar to decrease and prevent natural HP recovery consistently. A portion of your health bar will look red, and you should also look at your character, as you will see a “burning” effect on your armor.

Naturally, you’ll probably be rolling multiple times after being hit and inflicted by Fireblight. You might cure the burning effect without even knowing. If you don’t, the damage might be too much and you might end up dying. Since the Fireblight effect drains your HP quickly, it is better to cure it before taking healing consumables like health potions or rations. The same goes for Bleeding effects, as the damage over time effects persuade you to use cures or dispels rather than healing.
